Chancellor's Scholarship

congrats! when were your postmark deadlines?

Pretty early. November 21

November 19

staal315, could you pl. post your son's stats?

so I just recieved my letter from the honors college yesterday and today I tried to talk to one of the admissions people about the chancellor's scholarship. I'm afraid that I'll get the packet way late because well...it's happened before. I recieved on Dec. 24th from Indiana University of Bloomington a scholarship app that was dated Nov 20th and I was expected to mail it by January 4th with new copies of my teacher reccommendations. I talked to the admissions officer about this and she said that there is no application for the chancellor's scholarship. She also said that if I was a nominee it would already have been written on one of the letters I've already recieved. I thought that there was a separate scholarships letter and the application packet would be sent in that! There is isn't there? And shouldn't I recieve one of these packets?

SAT- 2270 ACT-34 UW GPA- 3.97 good ECs, Recs, and Essay.

oh and I also did 4APs my junior year, got 3 5s and a 4 and am doing another 4 APs this year. Plus i have SAT IIs chem-730, Lit- 760
and am ranked 16 out of 411. All of my original application stuff was in before Nov. 1st

^ there is a special application...it's dated two weeks after you receive it.

well, if it's two weeks after I recieve it that should be fine. I was just worried about recieving it six weeks late like my other one and not having additional time.

^ yeah, i mean it will be hard to get everything done, but...you'll have 2 weeks. :P good luck writing those essays

Well its me, not my son lol but here are my stats:

1400/2090 SAT
4.0 GPA
Lots of ECs and leadership positions
Good essays but I guess I'm biased haha
Only saw 1 teacher rec but it was very good
Female, instate if that makes a difference

If you need to know anything else, just let me know

anyone else here?

My postmark date was December 5th, so I should probably won't find out if I got an interview or not sometime next week.

My postmark date was November 24. I remember a lot of people (6?) got full tuition on that Monday, November 10.

did not receive the invite for the interview. i got a letter and my postmark date was mid-November.

4.23 GPA - top 5% (8 APs, honors)
33 ACT/2240
Essays - OK (I hated the questions... so broad)
Recs - OK
Good ECs, but not many leadership positions

Good luck everyone!

^ i didn't get it either..

2250, 800 and 750 on SAT IIs

varsity captain (4 years), editor in chief
perfect score on national language exam
2 semi-prestigious regional awards
NMSF (NY), OOS

i am beginning to think that Pitt has shortage of merit funds...so most full tuition haven't gotten the interview..that way they can "pick up" amazing candidates (at least for the interview) who didn't get full tuition

Just got my letter today...no interview for me.
3.6 ish GPA
2280 SAT
really good EC's/recs/essays
ahhh well.

I sent my application in on Thanksgiving. In Pittsburgh actually. Out of state, from Maryland. Dropped it off in a mailbox on my way back home. I got the email confirming they had received my application for it a week later or so. I'm still sitting around, hoping for an interview! Good luck to everyone.

3.85 GPA
35 ACT
