Chances at the university of Alabama?

Alabama has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. Undortunately, my freshman year of highschool I was diagnosed with a neurological disorder and was in and out of hospitals getting different treatments until my junior year in which I finally recovered. my gpa is currently a 2.3. last semester my gpa was a 3.6 but being factored in with the grades I got when I was very sick make it so low. my SAT score was a 1730 (math:600, cr:540, writting 590). I go to a very hard highschool an have taken a lot of honors, gifted, and ap classes but my school does not weight grades. im planning on applying as soon as i can get my transcripts from my school.I live in south Carolina, but out of state tuition is not a problem. any advice?

Hi,

Are you a junior or senior?

If you’re a senior, try this to better your chances:

Get your app in ASAP!!!

Contact your area rep and explain your health issue and how your grades are now much better. It also might not hurt to include a mention that finances aren’t a problem. Being a full-pay student may give you an edge. (Couldn’t hurt. )

When your GC sends your transcript, have her include a note about your health issues and how your grades are now improving.

also…ask your GC if she’ll hand-write a weighted GPA on your transcript…that might help as well.

I think you will get in even without explaining your situation, but definitely do so just to be sure. Good luck!
