chances at this school?

My brother is a junior, he goes to a public school in NY.

He has pretty much a B average, nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible.
He really wants to attend Boston University. Granted he doesnt have the best grades in the world, I think that could be attributed to all of his ECs.
He has played varsity basketball since freshman year. He played football, and other sports til his 10th grade year when he began to focus on basketball as a chance for a scholarship.

He currently is on the 2nd ranked basketball travel team in the country sponsored by reebok, and will travel the whole country sponsored by them all summer.

Along with sports he is also involved in other major school activities, peer leaders, student govt etc. He is taking the SAT's very shortly, and I hope he does well.

Does he have a shot at BU, and schools ranked aside them?

Again if B average isnt enough info, its basically consistently a B student, mainly because when he gets home hes doing sports for 3 hours or so after school.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

His ECs are impressive for sure, his gpa is a little iffy... knowing his SATs, class rank, etc would be really helpful since universities but so much emphasis on scores these days.

1/40 not a bad ratio..

can anyone else please comment, give any advice..
sorry im not asking about harvard or yale, but I do wish for my brother to get accepted at the schools he wishes to apply to.

it`s really hard to determine this without an exact GPA and SAT score...
you said he basically gets Bs...which would be around a 3.0GPA(Unweighted, that is) If this is the case, I think it will be difficult, as a 3.0 GPA is quite low, even if he gets recruited.
If he does get a high SAT score(above a 2000 on new SAT) then I would say he still has a chance.
Again, I am not an admissions officer so I can not say for sure. He should try to get atleast As in some of his classes and take a challenging courseload. Good luck.
