After a year, i feel like i need to go to a much harder school. I attend George Mason and would like to transfer to a more rigorous school. I was planning on transferring to:

UChicago
Boston College
Cornell
Georgetown (CAS)
Harvard, Yale (Worth the effort?)

My stats are:

HS GPA: 3.5
SAT: 1300 (w/o writing) (i think somewhere around 1920 with writing section)

George Mason Honors Program
College GPA: 3.95 (rigorous class schedule)
Lots of Clubs, with leadership positions

I had a paper published my freshman year.

Internship this summer with a Presidential Campaign
Internship in Fall Semester with Representative in US Congress

I know I have another semester of grades, but I doubt my GPA will dramatically change, if it changes at all. Anybody know what my chances are?

Harvard, Yale (Worth the effort?)
No. They look at your HS transcript, as well as your college record, and if you didn't have the stats -GPA/ SAT -to be considered a strong candidate for acceptance as a HS senior [ and your stats indicate you didn't], you have even less chance now, simply because statistically they take a much lower % of transfer applicants then they do freshman.

Thanks. I figured so. Anyone have any ideas about the others?

besides Harvard and Yale, I believe that you have a legit chance at the other schools.

Chicago is all about the essays (from all reports). So if you write an excellent essay, which seems more likely since you are apparently published, then you'll have a good shot at admission. I'd say you have a pretty solid chance at BC (this will likely be the school you'll have the easiest time getting into). If you are applying as a junior then your chances will go up even more for all of these schools (adcoms will focus mostly on your College transcript).

I second what Milton Roark said. Your SATs are very mediocre and your high school GPA is less impressive still. As a freshman, your high school transcript and SATs would be heavily scrutinized, so I suggest waiting a year and trying then, as your college record is very impressive and will impress many an adcom.

What year are you currently? Would you let us know on your outcome?
