Reach-- I would work on the Writing section of the SAT. Good luck!

I think u have a great chance. But it is such a prestigious school that who knows… u should def apply ED

You have decent chances applying ED, but raise your test scores, they are low.

i would say you definitely have a pretty good chance, but if possible retake your sat, but it’s not a deciding factor. also, espeiclaly for brown, they want something really unique. you seem to have nice ecs, but there’s not really that special thing, but if you can express something like that through your essays I’d say you have a really good chance. at this point your essays carry an especially heavy weight, and it’s great that you’ve started.
chance me back please!

I think you have a decent shot! Give it a try, because the Ivies are unpredictable because my cousin had similar scores (slightly worse if I remember correctly) and she got into Brown and Columbia! Do you have any other schools in mind? It will always be good to have a back-up! Good Luck!

I disagree with those who think that your extracurriculars are fantastic (sorry =( ). I agree- apply ED and emphasize your engineering work. It’s a tiny bit of a reach, but by NO MEANS an impossible one. Good luck!!!

If it means anything I also do flying trapeze as a hobby … no circus club in my school … =)

Everyone is saying apply ED because it provides and advantage, but Brown is one of those schools that doesn’t really confer advantages to ED students unless they are an athlete or legacy.

Eh, you may get in, you may not. It’s less certain for you. So be sure to have backup plans and not be so crushed by a rejection letter from there. Don’t get stressed by it, which I (mistakenly?) assume you are? You get in, greeeat, you don’t? No big deal, life has many paths for you, just as long as you’re open minded and imaginative enough to see the many possibilities that remain.

Thanks for the chance! I think you are defi a competitive applicant but Brown is always a crapshoot. You have a good chance because of your awesome E.C’s but you may have to be a little lucky you put yourself in a great spot though

Academics don’t seem to be a strong point, though you do have a lot of ECs, and it’s good you did the summer program. Hopefully the recommendations will pull through. Probably a reach school.

Maybe incorporate the circus bit in an essay? One of my friends got in (probably, partially) because she mentioned to the interviewer she was in the polar bear club of NY and did the swim every year with her aunts. Anything to stand out, right? Good luck!

p.s. just so you know brown is a total crapshoot. this girl that had a C+ average in high school got in because she was the fourth-largest grower of african violets in the world. so… don’t listen to people that say your gpa is too low :). but i mean… a 4.999999999999 gpa helps…

Lexie is in AP Bio and you’re not!

its a low reach right now with that relatively low writing score and sat II’s but your e.c’s seem to be strong so you put yourself in a good place. You will be a competitive applicant but need some luck. All the best!

Brown seems like a bit of a reach - hard to say since there aren’t a lot of extracurriculars - I agree on retaking SAT 2 Math II though. Your SAT score itself is fine (I hope haha, since it’s the same level as mine). Good luck! I’d say low reach.

I know a kid from my high school who couldn’t get into Brown (but was accepted at Stanford). From what I have heard, you have a much better chance of getting into Brown if you’re from an underrepresented area. Also, if anyone else from your school is applying to Brown this could hurt your chances if they have the better app.

Range SAT Critical Reading: 650-760
Range SAT Critical Math: 670-770
Range SAT Critical Writing: 670-770

Be sure to show strong interest in Brown specifically and I think that you’ll have a fairly decent shot at being admitted.

Please chance back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1201716-chances-out-stater-university-texas-austin.html?highlight=university+of+texas

Okay sooo your ECs are definitely strong since they show passion and longevity. Your SAT score may be considered weak but the writing section usually doesn’t matter as much. Your Reading and Math scores are STELLAR. Your course load could be stronger but you take a lot of classes and your junior and senior year work loads kind of make up for a “not as strong” sophomore year. GPA is calculated in an unusual way but I’m assuming it’s high since it is a 94? Like me, our ethnicity is more a hurt than a help:(. You have a great application though and I think you have a chance. Apply ED if you want to because that will up your chances tremendously. And if you’re ever interested in exchanging essays with me I think we could help each other.
GOOD LUCK!

The ivies are always somewhat of a crapshoot, but you have as good of a shot as anyone. BTW for all of you people who think you can’t get into an ivy without at least a 2250, my sister got into Princeton RD with a 2200. It’s not all about standardized test scores. Best of luck and thanks for the chance!

Lexie I think you have a decent shot at Brown, but at this point you really need to impress them with your essays, recommendations, and the interview. (if there is one I don’t know about Brown)

Your Math SAT 2 Score is, to be honest, low for ivies. I’d def retake it in the fall. Try aiming for a 770+. You can definitely do it a lot of the stuff is algebra 2/trig/some precalc. I just plugged a lot of stuff into my calculator when I was unsure.

Out of curiosity, is the 94 GPA unweighted or weighted?

High reach. Your scores are ok, but the ECs don’t make you stand out. A bit scattered and not much depth in relation to your academic/intellectual interests. But if you can make a compelling case in your essays, ED is still possible. Just have other options in mind though… =)
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1164754-chance-columbia-upenn-uchicago-4.html#post13137453
