CHANCES FOR BROWN??? Will chance back!

I think the class you took at Brown will help a lot. You have great activities because you’ve done them for a long time. It looks like you took a lot of challenging classes, especially junior and senior year, and colleges love that.

Only thing is you definitely need to retake that SAT II Math. If you can write a great essay and get good recs, you’ll be set.

When getting recs, make sure you have your teachers include some anecdotes from their experiences with you.

I will reaffirm what everyone else has said, need that SAT in the 2250+ range for Brown I believe. Other than that I think that your ECs are good and that you’ll stand a good chance at Brown (with a better SAT)

maybe retake your SAT. how “passionate” are you about your ECs? If you could somehow show admissions officers your feelings/thoughts on these then maybe you would have a chance.

I’m going to have to agree with the general consensus…to be competitive as a caucasian, a person needs to have at least a 34+/2250+ to compensate for low grades, but your ecs do seem rather weak as well…so it’ll definitely be a long shot.

At this point I can only really agree with everyone else, hahah. Brown is a crapshoot for anyone, you could be competitive at your current state but it’s a reach still… I think you should focus on making your essays and recs really good, and showing your passion for your ECs to stand out. Good luck!

retake math and i think you have a really decent chance!

You have a decent chance, but nothing really stands out to me. Your grades are ok, your scores are (barely) ok, and your ECs are ok. Focus on your essays, even the short one-liners in the Brown supplement and try to make everything say a little something about you.

buuuumppers!

I really do not see a problem with your academics, or your scores. You have good enough stats, since as the previous posters said, it is about more than that. I think you stand in a spot that will make admissions officers consider you seriously, but they will be looking for something appealing in your essays or recs or interview etc…

You are at the place where it is too hard to be like, yes or no. and everyone who is doing that because of your SAT is full of it. Your SAT btw, is a 1520/1600. Which is phenomenal. My highest was my writing section and I sorta failed at my other two which I now know sucks for me. But you are in a good place so that is the last thing you should be worried about. Think about those essays and preparing a good app.

best of luck!

You have great SATs and decent SAT II grades. You do have ECs, but no hook. Your essays are a great place to show your hook–what would make you great for Brown.

I will admit that I’m not a Ivy Chancer pro, so take what I say as a grain of salt.

Good luck!! =]

Good luck. Really don’t know much about ivy’s but you have awesome stats. If you don’t get into brown, there are tons of schools that will love you to attend.

Thanks for chancing!

I think you have a decent chance, it might still be somewhat of a low reach though.
I would suggest retaking the SAT.
A friend of mine got in with a 2210 and good ec’s like yours.

While you do have some pretty great things going for you here, I think your chances are decent but not overwhelmingly great. You seem like a typical ivy applicant, and it will be hard to set you apart from other science-loving newspaper editors. If you can really emphasize what you would bring to campus (a contribution) and your essays are stellar, your chances are looking good. It’s also hard to tell without your rank. If you are first in your class, then your shots are looking pretty great. Not so much if you’re ranked 10th or below.

its all about competitiveness w/ classmates. if youre top 10% youre on par, top 3 and youve got a great chance. id say all these other people are somewhat pessimistic, i think you can do it (no guarentees though, the ivies arent known for their consistency)

I think you have a pretty good chance. If you are doing engineering or a math focused major, I would retake your Math II. If you’re not then I wouldn’t bother since you have your other two. I think your SAT is great, especially if they only consider CR and Math. Your EC’s are pretty good too, especially the research. I’d say you have a pretty good chance.

I think you have a great chance and you can increase your chances even more by re-taking math 2. Good Luck!!

Your courses seem rigorous! You’re scores seem decent! You seem pretty involved. I’d say you have a good chance!

anyone please look at mine?

Good luck to all applying to college this year.

Good GPA…good SAT…Ok subject tests. If you are able to fill up the 5 honors and 10 activities with non-fillers then you have a great chance. Brown’s essays are make or break because they really want students who want to be there. I agree low reach and you can improve that with exemplary essays (not just good).

I think you’ve got a pretty good chance. You’re ECs could use some improvement, and if you’ve scored well on AP exams that will help too. The summer program at Brown will definitely help your chances as well.

good chances! good luck! i wish i had stats similar to yours :(
