Very simply speaking, my GPA is hovering just around 3.0 (yeah I know, not exactly "great"), and my SAT scores are in the 2200 range (750 M 760 CR). I took the Math IIC, Lit, and World History for SAT IIs, and got above 750 for all.

I know I'm in a pretty bad situation right now, as I heard that having a low GPA and decent/high SATs is synonymous with the term "Kiss of Death" for college admissions. But still, JHU has been my dream school for practically forever, and I'm planning to apply regardless of my chances. But I really do want some feedback as to whether I have even a slight chance? Thanks for your help!

PS. Also, I have some family legacy in JHU... Dad and uncle both graduated from there. Uncle is a contributing alumnus... Not sure how much that'll help though

PPS. If I do have even a SLIGHT chance, would ED be better than regular, or vice versa?

ED is much better in terms of chances if you know thats its your first place, especially for JHU. your low gpa will hurt you but your high SAT and family legacy will help you. what about your EC's and volunteer work? if they are good then i think you have a shot despite your low gpa

Thanks a lot stambliark41, Studyhard, foodisgood, and Goldfish. Your help is much appreciated! And to Studyhard... my EC's are not stellar but I have done some intern work at a major international bank corporation as well as some volunteer work in orphanages and hospitals. My only significant ECs are Amnesty International, MUN, and varsity soccer :P
