Courses: Here is where the main problem lies. During freshmen and sophmore year, i slacked off. A LOT. But by junior year, I realized that my lack of motivation and care will not get me far in life (let alone into college) so I really began to work hard and my grades improved exponentially

So, chance me?

SORRY ITS SUCH A LONG READ

So please chance me? I realize that I’m asian, andmy academics aren’t that great , but I’m hoping that my extracurricular and involvement in art balances that out? And in terms of my grades, ive improved it and im continuing to improve it throughout senior year, so would they see my upward trend? I’m not a great standardized test taker - yea, i know. it’s BS, but true. notice the huge difference between the standardized US History SAT II opposed to the AP US History exams - i know, weak excuse. im not writing that, but its true and I’m working really really hard to enahnce my test-taking abilities

*I’m also going to retake my SAT I for regular decision, and i expect to get 2150 (since the writing score was an abhorration of what I usually got on the 16 practice tests i took - i firmly believe that i can score higher on that section)

thanks

SO BASED ON MY STATS ABOVE, what would u say my chances are for…

cornell CAS?

Cornell AAP?

i think my chances are cornell AAP are higher, but will it lower my chances if i apply it as alternate? Cus i really love the sciences too

i love that you've had a lot of art oriented ECs...that will make you stand out and show that you're dedicated. they know you're from hunter so the classes there are tough and your sat scores aren't going to break the deal, so keep your chin up! as far as chances go...i think you have a decent shot.

i, too, am utilizing the alternate option (CAS and CALS) but I've heard that it doesn't look good unless both colleges have the major you want.

.......blas my eyes~~~~
buddy, so nice! no pro!

haha thanks

im really interested in pursuing biology if i get into CAS, but visual arts if i get into AAP

is that not a good enough reason, or does it seem...like im just trying to get in one way or the other?

bump 10char

bum

anyone help me?

yeah i've heard that if you want to pursue different majors in the two colleges...then it just seems like you want to get in. sorry =/ maybe you can state somehow that you're considering visual arts for cas too?

so im better off just applying for AAP only?

or do i even have a shot at CAS?

well which would you like to attend more? i think you have a decent shot at both.

what major do you want to do? because AAP only has three and for art and architecture, you need a portfolio...which you dont mention that you have...

oh..i have a portfolio, that's nothing to be concerned about. I got rave reviews from all the art schools during national portfolio day (well at least the top tier art schools - i didnt bother going to other ones)

so what do you want to major in? fine arts?

yup painting

then why didnt you do AAP and then Arts and Sciences?

that would have made a lot more sense to do AAP and only AAP because CAS doesnt even offer fine arts for a major. the "arts" in "arts and sciences" doesnt actually mean the art you are trying to do. however, the college of architecture, ART, and planning is the only school that does, with about 35 or so kids in its class that start off majoring in fine arts and then branch off into a concentration.

i know, but the thing is

it's weird because though i absoluely love art (AAP), i also have an intense interest in biology and chemistry (CAS). That's why i want the primary alternate program, beause both colelges have someting i really want to study

well then you do what i do: take electives outside of AAP in CAS. i love meteorology and biology. obviously my arch. curriculum doesnt have that. so what am i doing? im taking climate and global warming. im just confused why you would apply to a school for a major that it doesnt offer. it doesnt make sense
