Chances for purdue and penn state engineering

I just got my sat scores and I am not very happy with it.
SAT october 2013
Math: 740
CR: 590
Writing: 650
Total: 1980
What bugs me is the cr score.
I am an international student(from India) and can pay the full expenses.
I am applying for purdue and penn state university for the electrical and computer engineering course.
Here are my stats:

Class rank: 1/56
10th grade percentage: 94.6%
11th grade percentage: 89%

EC's:
Attended an internship in a technical plant
Participated and won in inter school quiz competitions
Currently hold a 6th grade certificate in solo piano from the Trinity College of London
Member of the ecology club and quiz club in my school
Done a community service of 100 hours
Played football in school level

I also want to apply for EA in both the universities.
Please chance me!!! Very anxious here.

Bump bump bump

you’ll most probably get into both, why not apply to better ones?

Thanks a lot for the reply! Really appreciate it. To answer your question, I am also looking into uiuc. Could I be a fit for uiuc?

Anyone else, please??

You could try UIUC, UCLA & UCSD. Penn State and Purdue are matches

Purdue should be a match for you but beware of the high drop out rate since they accept also some under qualified students.
Penn State Engineering should be a high match.
UIUC is definitely a reach. Your CR+M is below 25% there. It seems your original picks are very reasonable.

Thanks for the responses! Anyone else?

Bump bump bumping

Purdue and Penn State Engineering are matches for you, in particular because you have high Indian 11th results and are full pay. If you really want to reassure yourself, take Math2 and Physics. Are you taking the TOEFL? This would replace your CR score for these schools (by “providing context”).
Anyway, apply to both, and if you get into both, you’ll decide then.
You could pick one reach or two, one match and one safety to cover your bases though.

your 11th grade scores are great, you could also try for GA tech

Thanks guys! I am taking the ACT tomorrow. If I get 31, will that be enough for uiuc and ga tech. I guess that I am good at math, if that matters for engineering courses. Please reply!!

Bumping bumping

Middle 50% for GA ACT is 29-33, a 31 would be just fine for Georgia tech and UCIC is 26-31

So ACT 31 is absolutely fine.

@mte123 Thank you!

I have another question. Does ga tech take only act math and act English for consideration? I just bombed the act reading!

Please reply, anyone!
