With the exception of UT (assuming you're not in top 10%) and Rice, I would imagine you could get into most Texas colleges. Do you prefer public or private? Urban, suburban or rural?

A&M seems like the best match for you. UT's probably a reach. What decile are you in class rank wise?

thanks for the responses... I prefer urban and private (like my current school now) but I prefer the largest financial aid package even more. As for class rank, I am in the bottom 50% of a VERY competitive class of 140. ( I am only taking 2 AP's (both english) this year.) With that said, what schools do you recommend that might offer a generous financial aid package?

Also, a few things to consider regarding aid: 1. I've had 3 summer jobs in the past 2 years: selling phones at a retail shop, selling carpets at the same type of store and tutoring at my old middle school, KIPP Academy (nationally known school for educating inner-city kids 2. Even though my family is middle class, we have had to pay for all 4 years of private school. Currently, my father (2 jobs: professor at community college and elementary school) is 60 years old and my mother (hairdresse) 50. We have only a handful of relatives in America, a few in Washington and California.

thanks in advance guys...

Urban private in Texas - Trinity (San Antonio), SMU, TCU, St. Thomas and Houston Baptist (Houston), St. Edwards (Austin), University of Dallas, Dallas Baptist. Southwestern is suburban, but you might check out their merit aid calculator to see if you qualify for scholarships.

any other opinions???? I am considering applying ED to Trinity. I have been reading about the advantages of applying ED. First of all, would that bump me up to a "match" in terms of getting accepted and secondly, do you guys think that would help my chances of getting aid?

bump, any opinions would be appreciated.
