Chances for transfer to UMiami?

The reason I am transferring to UMiami is to major in physical therapy, not to mention the weather and all the extra goodies that come with that school. Right now I live in New York City and attend school upstate in Albany.

Highschool Avg. - 89.8 (11-13%)
College Avg. - 12 credit 3.58 GPA
SAT - 1280
Extra Curriculars - Nothing in college but I was capt. of my varsity soccer team and played some other sports

I have a good topic to write about my essay, starting my own business to pay my way through college.

What do you guys think? Possible? The only requirements for a transfer into the Physical therapy major is a 3.0 GPA. They also want my mid senior year transcript from highschool.

You definitely will be able to get in. You have a teriffic college GPA. Are you at a community college currently, or a university? Not that it will matter, but you can basically bank on it if it's at a university.

Though, the University of Miami is expensive and the scholarships that the school offers are hard to get.

U Miami: Match

I'm at a State University. Thanks for the support guys!

is this U Miami in FL? I was also applying there and was wondering, if so, are they a need-blind institution?

CashM88,

yes, the university of Miami is in Coral Gables, Florida. it does give out money on need-based, but you usually have to qualify for it. most of the time, people get 1/2 of tuition off, but since the tutition is like 35k-40k each year, you still have like 20k to pay by yourself or through student loans, grants, etc (an example).

here is the link to the scholarships the school offers on its website for academic scholarships:

I qualify for the Isaac Bashevis Singer (full tuition) scholarship, amazingly. However, i understand that I am surely not the only one. Could you perhaps give me an estimate of how much I would receive?

My sister is currently in college and I would consider myself to be in the middle-upper class. My dad is the only one who works. With the FAFSA, i know that both my sister's and my tuition will be cut in half to meet our set amount that we can pay. Thanks again (sorry to post on your thread, fut).

congratulations on qualifying for the Issac. however, i do not know a exact amount of how much you would receive. under the Issac scholarship, you should receive enough for the full tuition, after all you qualify for it. of course, you have to fill out some forms, so you might want to consider calling the financial aid/admission office?

If you qualify for it, you will likely receive it. Miami gives 50% of it's accepted freshman a scholarship. And those aren't requirements, rather just general guidelines, meaning it's flexible. If you have like a 31 ACT, A average, but are top 10%, they probably will still give you the 1/2 tuition scholarship.
