Chances for UC's.

I finished my junior year about a couple of weeks ago and will be looking to apply to colleges this Fall. The three main schools I'm considering are UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego (in that order). I'm not completely sure about what I want to major in although I'm looking at some form of engineering or something to do with biology. I'm Indian (just letting you know in case race has anything to do with admissions) and I've lived in California my entire life.

Grades

Middle School: I took Spanish I, Algebra I, and Geometry in middle school allowing me to get slightly ahead. I also took PE over the summer after eighth grade and again after my freshman year. This opened up an extra class for me during the school year in my high school schedule as well as giving me some extra high school credits.

Freshman Year: 4.0 (I received all A's in Algebra II Honors, English I Honors, Spanish II, Freshman Seminar, Biology Honors, Drafting I. Our school has no AP classes available as freshman)

Sophomore Year: 4.0 (My classes were Drafting II, Spanish III, AP European History, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus Honors, English II Honors, Chemistry Honors. I received all A's except for a B in Drafting II both semesters which was my elective. The A in AP Euro kept me at a 4.0. AP Euro was the only AP class available at our school as sophomores.)

Junior Year: 4.5 (Computer Assisted Drafting, AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, AP English Language and Composition, AP US History, Drawing I. I received all A's except for a B+ in English both semesters.)

Senior Year: I'm taking AP Government, AP Economics, AP Physics, English IV, Computer Assisted Drafting II, and Architecture. I'm hoping/expecting all A's which will be a 4.5.

Overall: I'm currently class rank #7 (in a class of over 500) with a 4.17 weighted GPA. By the time I graduate, I expect to be in the top 5 in my class with a 4.25 GPA. Any student with a GPA of 4.0 or higher at our school is a valedictorian.

Extracurricular
I was in CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for one semester my sophomore year. During my sophomore year I also volunteered at our city's court as a youth court program juror for about 25 hours of community service. During this summer, I just started to volunteer at a local hospital. I expect to have about another 100 hours of community service hours from this by the time I graduate. During my senior year I hope to join some sort of club.

Testing
AP Tests
AP European History: 5
AP Biology: Expect a 5
AP US History: Expect a 5
AP Calculus BC: Expect a 4 with an AB subscore of 5
AP English Language and Composition: Expect a 4

SAT Subject Tests
Biology: 710
US History: 760
Math II: 770

SAT Reasoning Tests
First time (Dec 08):1890
Second time (Mar 09): 1900

I just got my scores in for the latest June exam. I got a 2220. This was my best score and all the scores of individual sections were higher than any of my other tests.

Critical Reading: 730
Math: 760
Writing: 730 (73 MC, 9 Essay)

So after reading all that, what do you think would be my chances at getting into the colleges I listed (UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD)? Also, do you think I'd have a chance at getting into some more prestigious schools such as Stanford or Princeton? What can I improve on before I apply to colleges?

Thanks

UCSD - you’re in. You look look like you’d get into Berkeley and UCLA, but they’re pretty competitive so who knows. But I think you’ll be a strong contender.

So UCSD’s pretty much a sure shot? I was hoping so as I want it to be a fall back option in case I don’t get in elsewhere.

Thanks for your input.

SD for sure.

So what about the other schools than? Berkeley and LA?

Bump 10char (Wow, this is the first time I’ve used 10char and I just found out what it even meant yesterday lol)

SD for sure.
and if you don’t get into Berkeley or UCLA I’m so f’d

You’re pretty much all good in the hood for all UCs.

Are the UCs the only schools you are considering? What about the Claremont Colleges, USC, and even Stanford?

That’s actually what I was wondering. USC would be cool but from what I’ve read, it’s not as good a school as its cost would imply. I’d love to go to a school like Stanford but I’m not sure I’d have a chance at getting in.

So do you think I’d have a chance at some more upper level schools like Stanford or some Ivy’s?

You’ll probably get into all three, especially if you live in California. Might look into more upper level schools? Claremont? Stanford?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738616-do-my-sat-scores-ruin-my-chances-ill-chance-back.html

SD’sfor suree.
UCLA and Berk? Those schools are always hard to know.
So good luckk.

Update: I don’t know how important it is to admissions but I just got my AP scores and they’re exactly how I predicted. (5 on USH, 5 on Bio, 4 on Calc BC, 5 Calc AB Subscore, 4 Lang/Comp)
