I see UO accepts 80ish % of applicants. It’s my HS son’s top pick so far. He’s a Junior right now. GPA is the 3.5 area. He’s not strong on standardized tests so is not planning to take them since he’s looking at all test optional schools. He wants to major in computer science. We are OOS.
Computer science is a very tough major to get into because there is so much demand for it nationally, and not enough spots in CS programs for them. In looking at the U. of Oregon’s website, it does not appear as though they accept students by major, and it appears as though students who have a B- or above in the prereqs can move on to declare the major. I would verify with the university that this is correct, and I’d also see how difficult it is to get into the prereqs. But, the way I am reading the Ducks’ website, it appears as though this would be a solid option for your son.
