Hi, I am currently attending Kilgore College for my first year of college. In my first semester (which I’ve just finished), I received a 4.0 for 15 credit hours in the classes Macroeconomics, Composition I, College Algebra, History I, and Public Speaking. I received very, very high marks in each of these classes.
But, I have never taken an SAT (only practice tests, where I’ve made a 1300/1600 and a 1250/1600) or even taken the normal route of high school.
While in high school, I did not try as hard as I have been in college. In fact, I tried to get out of there as quickly as possible. Because of that, I got into an Early Graduation Program, where I graduated a year early, but also damaged my GPA that was on the rise (I probably ended up with a 3.0 or so).
So basically, my question is, what are my chances of getting into UT if I apply RIGHT NOW with 15 credits, but then finish the year off with 30 with a 4.0 average? Since I have to apply with only 15 credit hours, high school still plays an important role in the application process, hence why I must take an SAT next month.
I am great with essays, so those will be good. My grades will obviously be good, BUT how much will high school affect me and my ECs overall are not that great. Is this going to prevent me from getting accepted? Is high school going to hurt me even though I will end off my first year of college with a 4.0?
P.S. I am planning on going to the College of Liberal Arts where the average transfer GPA is 3.6 or so.
