Chances of getting into NYU

Hello everyone.

I am about to be a senior and I need to know my chances of getting into NYU, where I want to major in Computer Science. I have an SAT of 1600 (which is surprisingly good for my school) and a 3.1 GPA (which is obviously bad for any school). I plan on taking the SATs again and am trying my best to raise my GPA as much as possible. I go to a Vo Tech school where I've been studying manufacturing and engineering for three years so far. I can code in C++ and have just started learning Java on my own. I'm also quite skilled in CAD modeling, and have built and programmed a number of robots. My school has maybe 5 EC's available to students, but I have joined the MOE robotics team. I have great recommendations and have always been a strong writer. If i pull up my GPA and SAT what are my chances of getting in?

Thanks.

I always think their minimum SAT score is 1900.

Bump… And thanks.

If it helps, I’m African American and some of my engineering classes were college level.

Come on guys I’ve been obsessing over this for over a year now. Please post some insight.

u may have a chance but it does not seem that high right now… U should definitely try the SAT again or the ACT because some people do much better on the ACT. The extra stuff you added will probably end up helping you a lot but you are still in a pretty risky spot

Okay thanks. I just needed an opinion from someone else’s point of view.
