I am an upcoming sophomore. My cumulative weighted average is a 93.93 while the minimum average in the top ten percentile is a 97.57. Therefore I am not top ten as of now. Is it possible for me to be in top ten by admissions? If I don’t get into top ten percent, what are the chances of getting into universities like UT Austin, ATM, Baylor, and etc. ? I do extracurriculars ( band & soccer) and also take all the “advanced” classes possible.
Thanks in advance
good chance for UT, atm, baylor!
There are a LOT of very good universities in the US, and more outside the US. You will get into very good universities with an average of 93. At this point it is too early to predict which ones.
Personally I would only take “advanced” classes in subjects that you particularly like and are good at. You don’t have to be the best at every subject. You do need to make an effort in every subject that you take, but you don’t need to take every subject (for example I carefully avoided Biology in high school and university and this never caused any problems at all).
In September and for the upcoming school year, remember that your job is to be a sophomore in high school. Just do your job and don’t worry about other stuff. Your “job” means show up at class on time or early and pay attention, keep ahead in your homework, seek out help (such as talking to teachers after school) if there are subjects where you need help or subjects that you particularly love and where you want to do more, participate in extracurricular activities that you like, and have some fun.
and relax, you are doing fine.
