Take a look at the following 2013 and 2014 Matrix for Florida Schools. Unfortunately most people haven’t a clue about admissions. www.flbog.edu/about/_doc/cod/asa/admission_2014/Final_Matrix.pdf . The major problem is FL. has a large population, 700+ High Schools, and since UF tuition is low + Bright futures, it is highly selective and admissions is a crap shoot for most students. They do go out of their way in selecting IB students. Many students (top 5%) have no choice but to choose UF, since (our own experience ) is $30K in scholarships but with tuition at $54K, UF wins every time.

Your GPA (and class rigor, via IB) is fine, but your test scores are a bit low. Hopefully your scores will go up with the re-test (UF does super score the SAT). If you have to take it a 3rd time, UF will accept new SAT scores until the end of December.

Otherwise UF is a match. Holistic admissions at UF can seem a bit random, so make sure you’ve applied to a few other schools as matches/safeties. As a safety, I would recommend schools like UCF, USF, UNF, etc, as you’re likely to be awarded merit scholarships.
