Hello, I am a senior in a college prep high school in Hawaii and as of late I have been stressing over my dream school, San Diego State. Currently I have a 3.62 weighted GPA and a CSU GPA of 3.83. However, my test scores are 1070 for the SAT and 21 for the ACT. I am hopeful that my resume will make my test scores not too much of a factor but I am still extremely worried. I am in 3 honor societies, aced all three of my HL IB classes from junior year, played varsity basketball and football throughout high school, come from a diverse state, and participate in lots of community service events. If someone could please give me some closure it would be greatly appreciated and no need to sugarcoat anything! Thank you!
SDSU admits by major and eligibility index.
(CSU GPA x 800) + (SAT Math + EBRW) or (CSU GPA x 200) + (ACT comp x10), so based on posted stats your EI is 4134 for the SAT and 976 for the ACT. CSU’s will superscore the SAT or ACT along with taking the highest of the 2 tests.
Your EI SAT is within range for a possible acceptance. EC’s are not considered by your HS course rigor will be.
SDSU takes up to the November SAT sitting, so I would consider retaking to bump up your scores.
Depending upon your intended major, I would try to aim for a 4200+ EI SAT or 1000+ ACT for the best chances. SDSU continues to get more competitive each year, due to the increasing # of applicants: over 83,000 Freshman applicants last year.
Post your intended major and I can get you some target EI’s specific for that major if available.
One question, are you prepared to pay full fees at $36K/year to attend if accepted?. You will receive no financial aid as an out of state student.
Thank you so much for the info already and I want to major in Psychology B.A
Thank you so much for the info already and I want to major in Psychology B.A
SDSU had over 3500 applicants for Psychology last year with an acceptance rate of 29% so really need to bump up your test scores for a solid chance. Psychology is one of the most popular majors at SDSU.
Is there a link where I can see acceptance rate by major?
The link lists the # of applicants/# admitted and # enrolled so you can calculate the acceptance rate.
I personally think, as an out-of-state studen,t your test scores are too low.
There’s so much competition to get into San Diego State from instate residents, and they can choose the best.
Because you are paying full fees, they may accept you if they are desperate for cash.
