James Madison
Virginia Tech
UVA

Texas

considering

does making the Dean's List have any greater impact than like if i got a 3.49 (3.5 is the dean's list)

It's more of a "feather in your cap" type of thing. Having a lower GPA in harder coursework is, in my opinion, much more to your advantage. However, if you can keep the GPA above 3.5, I'd say you have a good shot at all the in-state schools, and perhaps USC/Miami.

I can almost guarantee that Texas and UCLA are out-of-reach. These schools admit very few OOS students, so you'd probably need above their avg. GPA, which happens to be about 3.6 for both.

Look into UNC-CH. Its MUCH easier to get into as a transfer than out-of-state first year, and its an amazing school socially even more fun than UVA (I've spent a lit of time at both).
