does your admissions chance decrease significantly without an interview? i dont know why i never had one, i guess since all the other ivies i applied to contacted me first i thought columbia was the same...

No, but your seeming arrogance might.

what arrogance? i live in a neighborhood with a lot of ivy graduates so im not surprised that these schools contacted me about interviews first… most of the time it was within days after i submitted my apps so they hadn’t even reviewed it yet. i was just explaining the situation

It makes no difference. I was waitlisted last year without an interview - don’t think it would have tipped the balance either way. Interviews are there to see if the student is who their application and resume says they are.

ok thanks… thats reassuring
i just hope i didnt come off as disinterested

"i just hope i didnt come off as disinterested "

Interviews are assigned based on availablity of interviewers, not students’ “interest” level nor strength of chances.

You’re seven days away from notification. Please relax.

I got a likely letter and Rabi scholar without an interview. You’re fine lol.

Thanks! For some reason I keep leaning towards Uchicago though, although everybody keeps telling me Columbia is the better school. idk :/

Don’t worry - my son was accepted to Columbia and he had no interview. Good luck!
