i really want to go to cal. i have thought about engineering since my math and science are really good, but i dont know if it is a reach or not. i have also thought about majoring in L&S

You fall directly in the middle of acceptees at Cal. You're GPA is a tiny, tiny bit under the average (4.2, I believe) and your SATs are a touch under the average as well, but you're a strong applicant. My best advice is to write some amazing essays that go beyond the normal cliched nonsense that most students fall into. For someone like you, who doesn't stand out through stats, the essay will be your best chance to make an impression. Let them know how excited you are to be part of the Cal community and tell them what you plan on getting done while you're here. Make your essay's so heartfealt and exciting and emotional that the adcoms wont know weather to laugh or cry or beat their chests and dance out into sproul plaza.
