What's your rank? What's your unweighted GPA? Your weighted GPA doesn't necessarily say much. Your SAT is OK and won't keep you out, but it's certainly not going to help.

unweighted GPA is around a 3.4
rank: about 45 out of 350

Your chances aren't very good, then. With a low unweighted GPA and a class rank outside of the top 10%, you'd need a much, much higher SAT to be competitive.

Did not mention that I was a legacy, and the E school is much easier to get in to

1) Legacy status only matters for out-of-state applicants. It puts them on par with instaters. UVA cannot lower the bar any more than it already does for instaters.

2) No, the engineering school is not much easier to get into. It has a higher acceptance rate, but it also has better applicants. The average SAT score in the engineering school is the highest at UVA and the overwhelming majority of SEAS students were top 10% in high school.

Oh well, I have a few other solid engineering options like VT, PSU, NCSU, and Clemson

Yes, you do. I was just trying to be realistic with you (I hope it didn't come off as mean.) Those are solid options and places where you'll get a fine education. If you go to one of them and still want to go to UVA, I hear it's not too hard to transfer in...
