Chances??

What are my chances of getting into U-M Ann Arbor??
I have a 3.75 GPA
a 3.85 U-M GPA
ACT:27 with highest scores in math and science
I am planning on applying the earliest possible and am an instate student
I have been in a handful of clubs and organizations like NHS, DECA, Spanish Club, I play Lacrosse, etc.

Slight reach. Try to up that ACT score to at least a 29.

dude u forgot to put all the hard classes uve taken... like AP KYLE

Ya i was thinking i should but i have taken it twice and recieved 27's both times. But i did forget to mention that i will have taken 5 AP's by the end of my senior year.

Hmm...I think you'll get in applying early as an instate student, but if one thing keeps you out, it's your test scores. Have you taken the SAT?

No I have not taken the SAT. Do you think that would help?

What district did you go to school in? Most districts are going to mainly prepare you for the ACT. If you went to a school like mine, SAT probably wouldn't help because they don't put much of an emphasis on vocabulary and things like that.

It couldn't hurt to take the SAT. I got a 1480 in the SAT after 3 tries (1430 first time) and then took the ACT once, had never really looked at the test before, and got a 34 (which converts to a 1520 SAT).

I think the ACT is a lot easier than the SAT...especially if your school doesn't place a lot of emphasis on vocabulary - important for the SAT. Of course I just wasn't great on the reading sections of the ACT either. Probably could have had a 35 or 36 if I knew how to do that stuff.

Thanks dsmo and christine. It just seems to me i got a 27 both times and to take it again and probably get the same score is discouraging. I just thought with a 3.75 GPA(U-M 3.85), a 27 on the ACT (which is only one point below the avg.), 5 AP's, being instate, applying early, and also being in a handful of diverse groups and clubs, I thought that would be enough. Also me being a white male doesn't help me either.
