Chances

What do you think my chances are for the honors college or gemstone? Do I even have a chance and can you still go in if you are not accpeted into the program at first?
SAT Score
Math 750
Reading 660
Writing 700
GPA 3.65
WGPA 4.35
I have taken 8 AP Classes and 12 IB Classes

And if any of you are in the program can you tell me if you like it or not and would you do it again knowing what you know now?

Gemstone will be dependent on whether you said you are willing to work in a group.
It is very difficult to transfer into these programs. The students accepted are told if they leave don't think about getting back in, thus most stay in the program.

DS in Scholars and loves it.

The beauty of these programs are that you are placed in a dorm with other classmates in the program and you have an immediate bond which makes transitioning into a very large university easier...the sense of only being a number is not there, while you get the big school feeling (all of the ECS)

Out of curiosity the gpa jump by .25 is big, the SAT jump is understandable. Does UMD have the 3.42 or the 3.65, b/c the 3.42 uw will not get you in honors, maybe gemstone. Not trying to attack just trying to get the info on the table. Also do they have the new SAT or was it taken past the deadline

To respond to your curiosity, yes I took the SAT again and the first time I posted I did not mean to post 3.42.

Oh yeah and you still haven't answered my first question.

I am not sure about honors. As far as gemstone, I would say yes, if you stated on your application you want to work in a group. If you said no, than you won't be offered Gemstone. Your SAT was lower than our DS and your gpa is also lower. His school did not have IB, but he took the same amt of APs. He is an OOS student and was offered Scholars, said he didn't want to work in a group so didn't apply for gemstone. Alot has to do with majors also.
