I got accepted in UCSB as a transfer.
However, i didn't get in my first major, and they decided an alternate major for me
my first choice is Computer Science which is in College of engineer, and the alternate major they gave me is in College of letters and science..
i do understand that i can't change major from a different college but only within
so i was thinking of changing my major (ie. Films and Studies) without any prerequisite?
also how about if i double majoring like Math(letters and science) and Computer Science(engineer) will they let me do that?

You can change it at the end of the first year (end of Spring quarter) i believe. You wont be given immediate priority for registration towards some classes but you can “crash” into those classes, which means attending the class and asking for an addition code.

The UC’s are pretty flexible with switching majors in the early stages.

As a transfer student you will never be able to transfer into the College of Engineering or double major in the College of Engineering if you were not originally admitted into that college. In L&S right now you can switch from almost any major with in the college to another major with the exceptions of majors in the Biological Sciences and Economics. So for example switching from History to Film Studies is very easy. Right now you can email your request to the ucsb office of admissions and they will make that switch. In the Fall you will need to go through your major department/College of L&S.

so i successfully transferred to math major(letters and science) as undergrad
the question is if im going for grad later on, will i be able to apply for CS major in CoE?

It looks like that major would be acceptable to apply for the grad program at UCSB
