This may be a silly question but can I major in something different than what I put on my application? I said that I wanted to major in classics but now realize that I want to major in economics. I just do not want to now be stuck in classics during my freshman year
You won’t be required to declare your major until the second semester of your sophomore year. Good luck to you at Colgate.
I hope you do take Classics at Colgate during freshman year given that you were sufficiently interested in the area when you applied. What’s changed, if anything, anyway? And you could also take courses in economics.
This is what the liberal arts focus is all about. You are there to broaden your understanding of the world and yourself through the many disciplines on offer. YOU are the focus at Colgate, not the institution and its structure e.g. committing to some major or school there and facing barriers to changing a selection.
Good luck and enjoy those 4 years! They will go very quickly.
Go 'gate!
