Subject Line of meial reads: Waiting List Update - Good News!

Dear ******,

Thank you for your continued interest in attending Dartmouth as a member of the Class of 2009. We are now in the process of concluding the review of the waitlist and have decided to offer a very small number of students a place in Dartmouth's Class of 2009. You are one of the students we would like to invite to be a member of Dartmouth's next class.

If you continue to be interested in attending Dartmouth, please let us know by Monday, June 6th. At that time, we will prepare an official letter of admission for you, along with a financial aid award for those students who have submitted the appropriate forms. You will have an opportunity to review all this information before making your final decision.

We hope you will decide to accept this offer and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,

Karl Furstenberg
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Congratulations

Soooo...

what are you going do do?

Thanks sooo much, sybbie. This has been such a painful process for me it's not even funny. I actually applied ED to Dartmouth and was deferred, only to be waitlisted RD. I wanted to give up hope so badly, but Dartmouth truly was my dream school. I wrote a personalized letter pleading to the dean around April 8th and then totally put Dartmouth out of my mind. Ugh…anything I could say write now in terms of expressing my emotions would be cliché but…this is one of the best days of my life.

I can imagine that it is a bit overwhelming after all you have been through in the process. But, you hung in there and you could be on your way to being a happy 09. It seems that Hanover was meant to be.If you are still this passionate about Dartmouth I think you should really go to as it seems that you blood runs green.

I remember my daughter was going to walk the gog when she recieved her admissions letter. She came back in the house crying and I did not see the dog. I asked her what was the matter and she told me that "she got in" and I kept asking her where is the dog?

She is finishing up her first year and she is happier than she has ever been even though they are in the middle of finals. I would have been the last person to say that my NYC kid would be happy in Hanover.

It's really something to dream and have that dream come true. Now you have to start on a new dream. Catch up on some of the other CC threads about Doc trips, housing, computers. Chat with the folks on the Dartmouth 09 board on the school's site. See what the $$ is like and if everything is okay, then just go for it.

where are the wait list accepted from (what state)?

bump......

"where are the wait list accepted from (what state)?"

upstate new york.

And thanks for the kind words, sybbie. It truly is a dream come true. Good luck to all others waiting.

congrats cj.. it must have been extremely difficult waiting for a wait list answer but it must also be incredibly sweet to finally have the right answer.

cj: First, congratulations! Before receiving the email did your Dartmouth status page recently change as the other students have reported (referring to you as a matriculated student)? Or not?

Hey Blu, I know you're holding out for DMouth, but where did you reserve your spot just in case? just curious

Thanks lawyerdad...I went and checked out the thread you are making reference to and I'm afraid I don't know how to log in to the site and check. I honestly never went to Dartmouth's site because it was too painful for me. Let me go explore a little and I'll get back to you all.

Welcome, ****** . **, to the Dartmouth Student Information System! Last web access on Mar 31, 2005 at 05:37 pm

Undergraduate Prematriculation Menu

This is what I get. If I was going to guess, I'd say that it's good news for those who see the same thing. Still, it might simply be a system change in terms of wording as someone else alluded to. But changing the wording out of the blue like that would be a tad random.

Congrats cj, and welcome to the Dartmouth Class of '09! Hope to see you at the Big Green this fall!

Congrats cj.

Thanks, cj. Whatever results for others, best of luck with your academic goals.

I'm going CRAZY! I haven't received any e-mail from Dartmouth and even though I also get the prematriculation menu thingy, I still haven't received any e-mail! Dartmouth is my dream school, I really wanna go there and IU don't know what is going on. If I haven't received an e-mail, does that mean that I already lost the battle?!?!?!?! Somebody help me! My rank is 11 in a class of 252, my sat scores are 750 verbal 740 math, my sat II scores are 700 math, 670 writing, 994 ELPT, I'm an int'l student, and I can't wait to hear from Dartmouth!

well, i think MOST of us, along with the people who actually got off the waitlist have the "undergraduate prematriculation menu".

so...could this just be a simple word change?
or do only certain people have this prematriculation thing...?

i am also an international student anxiously waiting to hear
from Dartmouth...
(im trying to convince myself that its only taking a bit longer to notify
the international waitlists..haha)

Congrats cj and Welcome to the Class of 09!!! Can't wait to see all of you CC people in fall!!! I'm praying for Blu =p I really dont want to see Dartmouth admission pass up a such special individual! Good Luck Blu!
