Checking gym quiz

We took a pointless gym quiz today and I want to know the answers to 2 of the questions. The only reason I care is because this is our only gym grade and their were only 2/25 I was unsure of. A 96 or 100 in gym is great but I don’t want a 92 (B+) in that stupid class for this marking period.

These questions may seem stupid but the gym teacher just gives us volleyballs and tells us to play and then gives us a paper with a couple volleyball facts on it.

So…

True or False? Side-out scoring is no longer used in any regulation volleyball games.
I put false because I thought that it may be used in some, but I don’t know.

Now I know that if the ball touches the net on the serve it is “legal”.

but

If the ball touches the net on the volley, what is the call?
I put illegal only because she had this question and the one about the serve and the net right next to each other so I figured, maybe one’s illegal since one is legal. Odd logic I know.

I think the second one is legal. I don't know for sure though.

There are actual quizzes in PE?

Second one is legal for sure. I don't know what side-out scoring is though.

Dear God, your PE is a tough class. Any quizzes like that in my school's PE classes and they'd have a pretty harsh curve.

But I don't know the answers, to answer your questions.

PE isn't even a part of my daily schedule!!! It's a separate thing after school.

OH! Is side-out scoring where the team that's not serving the ball can still score a point? If that's what it is, then that is used.

Haha we have quizes too. Only junior year cause the teachers are *****es. I got a B this marking period. :P

you know ur a geek when you ask for answers on a gym quiz...

ITS GYM CLASS! WHO CARES????

Yeah, I've had the following gym quizzes over fresh-junior year:
volleyball *3
pickleball *3
basketball *2
soccer *3
football
weightlifting
general fitness/body systems/exercise *3
softball *2
ultimate frisbee
floor hockey *2
lacrosse

Those are the quizzes I remember. My friend was kept off high honor roll due to these quizzes too theoneo. I usually pull 95s on em, but they're such crap. One time we got a scan-tron 50 question one with 2 essays. I was just like, you gotta be joking here! It's not taught either. We just get a packet or paper the day before the test/quiz to try and teach ourselves. And sometimes the tests convieniently test things not in the packet.
What a waste of my brain cells..honestly..

stonecold, I know it's only gym, but it counts just like any other class. This one girl was val up until 1/2 of the way through soph year. She got a 72 on her soccer test and that grade on her report card dropped her rank out of the top 10/like 200. That's pretty significant in my opinion. While her score on it really helped me to now be either 1, 2, or 3, I really would rather the same not happen to me.

Just to bring this back for fun. I finally got the pointless quiz back and got a 92 (23/25). Both of the posted questions I got wrong. Side-out scoring is not used AT ALL. It is legal. So yeah..bah junior 89 would have gotten it wrong too.

rally scoring is what is now used

well yes I know but I thought that they may use side-out every now and then in special situations

finally a question i can answer!!! side-out scoring is no longer used. rally scoring is used in club, international, college, high school, and all other competition including beach. a ball is allowed to hit the net during a volley. it is also allowed to hit on the serve; its called a let serve. its a real pain in the butt to pass a serve that hits the net cuz the ball's path. i'm assuming that your gym teacher is talking about the rules that apply to all international volleyball teams down to the high school level. 4 years of volleyball finally comes in handy. lol

Bah..I wouldn't check my gym quiz.

If the ball touches the net on the volley, what is the call?

The ball can touch the net if it is not a serve. In the example if someone hits it and it bounces off the net you can hit it over. However, on a serve if it hits the net it is either:
illegal if it fails to cross the net
it is a let and the serve is redone if it touches the top of the net and falls on the opponents side.

if the serve hits the net and goes over, it is a live ball.
