Chem 3A midterm #2.......

college is so hard :(. what % of people get A’s. around 30? or less

Does anyone know if they will still be passing the exam out on Thursday?

I know that at least the top 15% of people get As or A+s in some lower division classes, so if you consistently score 1 SD above the mean you are on par. You can usually get away with being 0.75 SDs above the mean on each exam but higher is obviously better.
Edit: the reason for this is that if you get 0.75 SD above the mean on each exam, that might end up being about 1 SD above the mean for the whole course after tallying up the points.

Then there are lax classes where 40% of the class gets an A or something =P

If you didn’t pick up your exam after lecture today, you can pick it up at GSI office hours tomorrow (Wed.). Please stop by 1 Lewis Hall during the hours of 9-12 or 1-6.

mann i want an A

If I tell Karen I think she’s hot, do you think it’ll matter?

I don’t think so… i think she’s hot.

Never know if you don’t try. Rawr!

haha. i think she’s hot too.

i’ve never seen her before… when does she hold that review session again? haha, i’m curious…

friday… lol = =

hell yea. i got a 50. that’s 30 more points than i gave myself. m/c raped me. and the fact that i got 0s on two synthesis did too. fake whoo. i hate this class

What was the mean and std deviation?

Mean 69, SD 28

^
study baby.

So the range for C- to B+ is 41-97?

That seems about right. So most people probably didn’t do as badly as they thought, with curve.

^
so only 16% of people get A’s? cause 98 is 1 SD away from mean. meaning you scored better than 84% of the students i think.

well i dont think it’s a normal curve, probably has more ppl below the mean, dunno how that would affect how many ppl get As tho
