i'm currently taking chem 6bl and am debating whether or not i should take chem 100a next quarter because i don't know what kinda workload to expect. this is an issue for me, especially since i am going to take chem 140a next quarter, and i'm not expecting it to be a piece of cake. are all chem labs in general a lot of work? thanks

chem 100a doesn't take much time outside of lab, since all the reports are typed and you're given most of the spreadsheets for excel. that said, why are you loading up on chem labs so early? i didn't even take 100a until winter quarter of junior year and still graduated early.

oh i'm just going by the suggested biochem/chem program, and isn't better to take it right after 6c while all the material is still fresh?

umm.... not if you actually learned the material -- after which you should be able to recall most of it, and if not, know where to look it up.

these are chem LABS, not lectures. they're going to be more impressed with your ability to BS lab reports and whiz through excel formulas than your know-how in determining reaction orders, etc. besides, you'll always have classmates to help you out ... or supply data for you to copy.

really, labs are fun. space them out. they give you time to play with cool glassware and chat with your classmates.
