Chem or Physics

idk if i’m putting this in the right spot BUT i have a problem

So next year i’ll be a high school junior, and I have to choose if I’m gonna take chemistry or physics. I really wish my school made you take both, but you have to pick only one. I have no idea which one to take. The problem is I have no idea what I’m going to do with my life carrer-wise. I enjoy math and science (especially earth/environmental science) so probably something in the STEM field. I really should have somewhat of an idea of what to do with my life by now but I really don’t know. I feel like if I want to major in something science related both chem and physics are really important, and I would be missing out on something if I picked one over the other. Which should I take??

side notes: I have already taken earth science honors, and bio honors, and I will be taking ap bio next year, and hopefully ap environmental senior year.

HELP

Is taking one of the classes online an option?

Physics is very math-based and chem too but less so… in my opinion.

In my son’s experience, chemistry was more meaningful. You can’t do much in physics without calculus.

For someone who is interested in environmental science I would recommend chem.

Take a look at the curriculum of each and see which you are more interested in. Either way, they are both beneficial courses. Also, find out about the teacher(s) of each course. A lot of times the quality/caliber of a teacher can make or break a class. Hope this helps!

Why not take chemistry next year and physics senior year?

Take both before you graduate. Most schools seem to have students do chem first. Being farther along in your math track can help with physics.

I would take chem this year and physics next instead of AP bio and APES. It is more important to have exposure to chem and physics in HS than the 2 APs.

Can you take Chemistry regular or honors and AP Bio, then Physics regular and APES senior year? And if you could, would you be able to handle doubling up like this?
