yeah 3 in a row is the max on all CB tests.

think a raw score of 117 will be a 5 :)?

yeah 3 in a row is the max on all CB tests.

think a raw score of 117 will be a 5 :)?

why is everyone saying 7 was hard? It was just lewis, hybrid orbitals, and geometry, those all go hand in hand.

Another thing, for the geometry, i wrote both the molecular geometry and the electron geometry. That ok?

Also, for the one question on whether the bond angle would be less than, equal, or greater than 109.5, it was less than right? Because of the unpaired electrons which will push down on the angle making it smaller.

Wow Im really obsessing.

Im pretty sure it was less than 109.5....thats what i put for exactly the same reason...

How much will scales vary year by year? Someone on this thread said chem has been as high as 125/160? I hope it's not more than 6-8 points for this year's. 2002's was 107 for a 5.

In my opinion, that MC was harder than almost all the practice tests I've taken so far, but the free responses were fairly easy. I would say I got about 85-90% of the FRQ right.

For the first essay, did you guys get a K value of something*10^45?

Also, for the one asking about there being a precipitate, did you guys get a Q value of something*10^-11? So therefore, there will be no precipitate because Q is less than K.

On essay #7, what were they looking for for the hybridization? Like 1s^2 2s^2.......?

Where were the "calculating pH" questions on FR?!?!? I was totally expecting that...shocked it wasn't on there.

And KOH is not a precipitate is what I've been hearing......crap.

Also for the MC, who had trouble with the second "balancing equations" question? It was the huge redox reaction. I ended up doing some crap with creating 2 half cells, and I ended up with my answer being a 5 in front of H20. That's so cheap of the college board to throw a ridiculously hard balancing problem at us!

My last thought: those of you saying there will be a bad curve do not realize some of the people taking this exam. Most of the students taking the AP Chem exam are seniors and have slacked for a lot of 2nd semester (at least many in my HS). Those of us on CC are the people who actually care about what we're going to get on these exams. Although you could say this exam was a little easier than previous ones, I think the MC will offset the test, and I predict the usual curve.

Overall I think I got a high 4, possibly a low 5. We shall see in 2 and 1/2 months when we all receive a pointless slip of paper in the mail, reminding us of an exam we took ages ago.

Edit: Sorry if I'm breaching the security issue with this post, moderator can delete if he wants, but c'mon we have to discuss it!

my Keq value was definitely less than 10^45..but i'm sure you're right lol. i kinda screwed up on that one.

and for number 7 the hybridization means like sp3d or sp etc. i think.

and yeah KOH isn't a precipitate; all group 1a cations dissociate.

1st essay had Keq on it? Wow, I was paying attention during the exam.

it was the last part of Q#1 shanianwang

this is bothering me
if i had acetate wrong on reaction prediction but i had the reaction right
do i get partial credit?

prolly

are u supposed to write acetic acid as

HC2H3O2 or CH3COOH???

i pretty sure both work
i made a dumb mistake and switched it up to HC3H2O2

it doesnt matter what way you write it.................

this is funny.

I never really cared to know how to do equilibrium problems (I knew at one point but since then I've forgotten) and I didn't study for the test. It killed me, but I still thought most of the FR was pretty easy (like #8, oh my god). Even english was easier than this, for me.
But it's okay, because I hate chemistry and taking it was the worst mistake ever.

Did anyone do #2 and #7 free response? Really easy.

in the reactions its 1 point for reactants, and 2 points for products.
so If you had the products write you still get 2/3 pts.

shanianwang~ I did #2 and #7. I thought I would have been able to do #2 last in year honors chem. #7 was easy too except for two of the four lewis structures. Those were really confusing

4 structures? Only drew 2 right?

what do you mean two out of the four?

there were only two molecules which you had to write the lewis structure for.

I would've done #7 b/c it looked so easy but our teacher never actually taught us even lewis dot structures. She had a sub "teach" it to us and half the stuff he said was bs. I'm only an ap chem student and i could tell he had no idea how to teach. Anyway, i didnt want to risk it so i did #8.

Was anyone else nervous while doing number eight? If your counting is off when locating Q, its impossible to get any of the other questions. I recounted and checked the position like 5 times just to be sure.

^ lol, yeah -- that's why I did #7, haha. I looked it the question and then the clock (10 minutes left) and was just like... daaamn, that's a lot of questions. For #7, I didn't really remember the lewis dot structures and bond angles and all of that, but I just kinda made up that part... hopefully I got some points, lol. A lot of people did #8 because it was more logic-based...
