Chicago UNIFIEDS 2007...

hey guys...I am going to Unifieds in Chicago this year to audition for six MT schools. I was just hoping I could talk to some other people that are auditioning in Chicago. I am really freaking excited about it all but am also freaking out about a bunch of stuff. It is just the small seemingly unpredictable things. For example, UArts says that after you do your songs and monologue you are supposed to present a random dance piece.!?? ha...I don't have an issue doing some random movement piece but I am not by any means a dancer and just think it is random....maybe I am not understanding it. I just think it is a little wierd that you sing/act and then bust out into some jazz squares. haha..anyways..I am just stressed about 100 little things like that...

IM me if you want AIM- justglen192@aol.com

Later dudes

Glenn

Hey glen..im also doing Chicago unifieds, but dont be nervous about it....im sure everything will be good!...im excited that its soo soon..lol :-)

Glenn, I posted to you on the UArts forum, but I want to make sure that I'm saying the right thing. Perhaps the policy has changed and I'm not aware that people must present a solo piece now. Whatever you present, I assure you, is not going to break you. If this is, indeed, a requirement and not just a "suggestion," they only want to see your abilities to know where to place you in a dance class. As I didn't dance, this was decided during my interview portion. The only reason there is no dance audition at regionals is because we're only able to send one teacher to each regional area and there are only about two we send with the capabilities to teach a jazz combination.

Enjoy, dear! And if you have any questions about UArts or the Chicago Unifieds, feel free to PM me.

I'm also auditioning for six schools at the Chicago Unifieds. I'm so excited!
Break a leg everyone! :)

wow...6 schools! Did you have to apply to all of them, or can you just walk in and apply later? I'm doing 2 schools in chicago. break a leg!

im doing three, cause then im doing another three in NYC the 3rd and the 4th...im going to try and do some extra walk-ins if im allowed though....good luck you guys!

i love you glenn! i will be seeing you in chicago too. and for coffee soon to talk about fsu??? don't fret about the details. i know that everything will work out because you are thinking about them. you worry so much that you will have worked out every potential problem and their solutions before you even get there. smile big, take a deep breath, sing your lungs out, and charm them, k? (oh yes, and do a little dance. for uarts at least...:) )

I'll be doing seven in Chicago. We should all have a CC kid dinner or something... Are you guys staying at the hotel? Hope to see y'all there!

yea im staying at the hotel..

My S missed his opportunity to have his CD for unifieds prepared at school. Someone mentioned a person who can make a CD accompaniment, but I can't find the post. Can anyone recommend someone who would be able to prepare a CD on short notice and get it to us quickly? S will need four songs prepared.

Hey guys, my name is Taryn, and even though I don't know you, I figured I'd join in on the convo. I'll be doing seven auditions in Chicago (plus a Roosevelt dance audition on the 4th)! I'm kind of in super-stress mode right now because I don't have my music recorded yet! But, it should be done by Monday, so maybe I won't be such a nervous wreck by next week..... Oh, and I'm staying at the hotel too!

Hey dudes....Quick question!! Pretend you are a guy that can move but is definately not a dancer. I am not sure what I should wear to my dance auditions! I don't want to look like a poser and go and buy some jazz pants so I am not sure. I am thinking just black athletic pants/black or white shirt and jazz shoes!! Opinions!?? thanks dudes!!

Glenn

I think that outfit sounds great! Not too pretentious, but like you might know what you're doing.

justglen192-
if you have a choice, wears pants and shirt that are closer-fitting.

Just to reiterate jordansmom's post earlier this week, it is beyond cold in Chicago. My weatherbug says it's -10 right now, and it is not forecast to get above 14 degrees prior to Thursday; wind chills are in the minus 20s right now and will stay there most of the beginning of the week.

Also, even if you're staying in the hotel, and do not need to go outside the entire time you're here, I would highly recommend some kind of saline nasal spray - with this bitter cold, the heat will be running at capacity at the hotel, making the indoor air almost painfully dry, which in many times can lead to bloody noses (and ouchy skin - don't forget the lotion, too).
