Yeah and also the fact that its a commuter school as well. I had someone tell me that unless your in a frat or sorority living at UCI isn't fun. But you still have the people that do live on campus and i think it'd be fun, but if you're looking for a true college experience/college town atmosphere i was also told and given the unenthusiastic face when people talk about uci, nonetheless it's a great school won't take that away from them.

CHP- You can apply anytime during before jr year, unless you are a transfer. You need a 3.5 cumulative GPA when you apply. They recommend finishing at least 2 quarters before you apply.

Irvine is close to the beach--just as close to the beach as SB, and there are shuttles that take you there. Weekends are dead here...but I so far I'm happy with my decision to come here!!!

Hope you guys make the right choice and matriculate here!

When I went to Irvine, the beach was a bit over 10 mins. away. It actually took us longer because we got lost. At SB, you can't get lost because the school is on the beach. I think they even own the beach.

^ I think you may be right. I saw some pics of ocean side and buildings right next to it.

I'm still surprised at how close Irvine is to the beach. LOL

@BrandoIsCool,
I hear that you need to take particular courses each year in order to graduate with honors.
Assuming that it's true, wouldn't you be missing out on honors classes the first two quarters if you're not in CHP right away, or do incoming freshmen generally take the same classes?

you only need one honors course to graduate with honors

however, the classes aren't what define CHP, it's the community.

^ So I could take an honors Spanish class and graduate with honors that way?

theres no honors spanish class.

if you are in honors, then only one honors core class (hum core, social science core) is required is what i meant but people tend to take at least 2.
