Clarification with AP classes and CCs

OK, so I'm about to finish my senior year with a 3.71 UW GPA. However, the problem with this is that I have had 0 AP classes.

Chances are, I'm probably going to end up at a community college. Could you guys help me answer a few questions..?

1) If I do well at the community college and I wish to transfer the next year, will my community college GPA be all that matters? Will HS GPA even count (or more importantly, the fact that I didn't take AP courses (or rather, couldn't...my school offers none))? What about SAT scores?

2) What are the advantages of going to a CC for 1 year (not 2) before transferring? (so I can hopefully convince my parents that it's OK to do this!) besides it being cheap and it being close to my home.

3) What are the best thing I can do for next year when I'm at community college to help me achieve my goal in attending NYU? The best job? The best activities I could participate in? Going to a community college = plenty of free time...

AS far as I know you cannot transfer until you complete 2 years of CC... atleast thats how the UC's work

Schools don't count it against you if you took no AP classes when your school doesn't offer them.

private schools may accept a transfer after one year, but then they may still look at HS transcript and SAT scores. (After two years, they only look at cc transcript and no test scores.) But, transferring after one year is difficult -- you only have one semester of cc grades AND, you have to earn the trust and respect of two teachers to write you a glowing rec.

btw: above is generic, since I don't know much about NYU; I do hear that NYU is not generous with finaid, so if $$ is a consideration....
