Dang, I still haven't heard. I switched my major to direct admit to Kelley after speaking to the admissions officer. I'll also be flying to Indiana for a visit the next month. I'll let you guys know!

umm... dont you have to be like top 10% in class with 30 ACT to be direct admit to kelley???

You need a 29 on the ACT, which I have, and some class rank that's high (I think top 10%). Fortunately for me, my school doesn't rank, and Mr Knaus said that class rank wouldn't be a consideration for me then.

oh.. lucky for u :).. IU is a great school although they have a few idiots there. Its a lot of fun, I have a lot of friends there and I used to go down there and party at least once every six weeks

I just applied to IU, hoping its a safe bet for me!

Class rank: top 20%
ACT: 34
AP's/Honors: English 10, 11, and 12th grade, AP Calc, AP Gov, AP US Hist.
Drum Major of marching band, manager of choir, school newspaper, jazz band, principal tubist in schools top band for 3 years and a member for 4 years.
Rec's from teachers that came to me and ASKED me if they could write recs for me (one of them is my AP gov teacher), so I'm assuming they're good.
Out-of-state (detroit area, woot!)

Are you applying to the music school? I am!

terry - you're all over the party schools! Indiana, Ohio U, and more, LOL

tkm - their music school is one of the best in the country. So many people from my school try to go there. I actually have a friend who went there and was amazing at Bass.

Hauck - where in the Detroit area? I'm assuming you'll probably wind up at Michigan or an ivy league.. so why Indiana?

A straight shot down M-14 from you in Livonia.

I don't have the grades for Michigan or an Ivy. Michigan is my first choice, but I'm exploring other options because I lost sight of my goals sophomore year and part of junior year... and I think you must know what that means for my mich GPA... :-... Let's just say its.. uhm... below average.

LOL, Hauck, I got a 3.3 UMich GPA, they screw me over! My UW Academic GPA is a 3.53, but I got a ton of pluses that UM doesn't care about. All my B+'s in AP English, AP History, AC French are being counted as a 3.0

The more I talk about it and think about it, IU is probably more of a match for me than Umich. I mean, you cannot sugar coat the fact that Mich is filled with cocky douche bags. yuck. I don't come from money either, which I know U of M is supposed to be diverse in every way but a lot (most) of the people I know and have met at the time I've spent there have money... or at least more than I do. However, I am totally in love with the campus, I do REALLY LIKE a lot of people there (I mean my best friend goes there), and Ann Arbor is sweet. lol A2, I'm out there like, at least twice a month it seems. My Aunt used to live in Burns Park too so I have spent a ton of time in Ann Arbor. Seriously a great city. I actually could really go for some Snow Bubbles from Bubble Island... yummmm...

IU has just as many rich kids as IU, im friends with a lot of them so i know from experience. If your not friends with them than can be jerks. Also there are a lot of rich kids that do coke at iu (by a lot i mean like 500 out of the whole school so not really a lot i guess)

LOL Hauck, i'm going through the same situation as you.

I know that at Michigan, there are going to be a bunch of stuck up "why didn't I get into the ivy league school of my choice and am stuck at Michigan" people, and those are the type of people I really don't want to be associated with.

I've lived in A2 my whole life. It is a very nice city. It's always in the top in the country in rankings, i'm not going to say "oh this isn't a good city". But I just want to get away, go further than 3 miles from my house for college. I don't want to go to a school with 250 other students from my school. Bloomington is basically the same as Ann Arbor, from what i've heard. I need to visit though.

Regardless of what happens with UMich, i'm glad i'm applying to Indiana. It has everything I want in a university, except of course a good football team (and hey, I can live with that!) This is a great school, and has many programs just as good as Michigan. Guess all we can do is wait, and make our decisions later in the year.

Terry- you have an extra letter in your name- should be just TerryBS. I'm sure you know that there are 500 rich kids at IU who do coke. Why would you even post something that stupid? Oh, wait- you are the kid who advocates cheating and was lying to the Ohio U track coach!

WTH...... i was just giving them an idea of the environment at IU since i've been there many times and have friends there, seriously your a mom so y do u bother. I dont see why it wouldnt be important to let them know that IU has a bigger drug scene than michigan does, I think that might be helpful in choosing. And just 4 info. 500 was an estimate not an exact number.

sure, youll find drugs at any school, but I went to IU last year and i can back terry up on this one (and yes, there are a TON of rich east-coast-type kids there.) if youre not into drugs, though, you can be glad that the campus is extremely divided and clique-y. as if that's something to be proud of. if youre in the right dorm neighborhood for you, though, i think you could be happy.

now what momofwolfchild... after spending ages 9-17 and 3months growing up in central indiana i kinda know what im talking about

hey i just got into the collins-living learning center, can anyone give me input on this dorm? like what type of kids/social environment is/ able to make friends easily/ nice people etc? thanks

i have no clue about that specific dorm but in general it is pretty easy to make friends at IU... you just have to figure out what group you belong in.
In general IU kids are pretty cool (even the richer ones). Also a lot of ppl there went to high school together or high schools close to each other so a lot of friendships are already developed so you might feel kind of awkward if your from out of state or dont know anybody there.

but isnt there a sorta sizable out of state student pop? i mean in general are iub students friendly and approachable?>

im out of state and wondering if i can handle the social scene and sorta off click with the other freshman i wil hopefully c in fall 2006, scared i wont make any friends ha
