<p>We have a friend who applied to USC. Are these results from some sort of early action, or are regular decisions out for USC?</p>

<p>USC doesn’t have early action but it does notify certain scholarship recipients early. Roughly 15 percent of acceptances receive letters of admittance/notification between January and February.</p>

<pre><code>SC does not have early action, early decision or a wait list. The university does not use the common application. It does have an early application date for those students who wish to be considered for the many merit scholarships. These are awarded by each school at SC such as theatre, cinema, music, fine arts, engineering, architecture and others. Roughly 60% of SC students receive financial aid and about 20% receive merit scholarships. Some receive both. The scholarships range from full tuition, half tuition to smaller scholarships which vary.

This year of the 38,000 applicants 22,000 applied early to be considered for merit scholarships. That was a record. The freshmen class is targeted at 2600, but more accepted last year and the class was 2972. For 2008 the freshmen class was 2766.

Many students who applied by the early application date have received letters of admission. Others have been notified they will receive a merit scholarship. The remaining students will be notified of their admission status on or before April 1, 2011.

<p>EmmyBet - how was your visit to New Paltz and Adelphi? I could try and give you some insight into these schools since my son is at NP and I know Adelphi pretty well. Let me know if you have any questions.</p>

<p>Thank you! Our visits went very well. We are so grateful to both of those depts to have given my D personal appointments when it was possible for her to travel. She got to talk with the dept heads and learned a lot about both programs.</p>

<p>We should have results from Adelphi pretty quickly, according to what they told us. New Paltz said they will make no decisions until they’ve seen everyone, which will be much later in March.</p>

<p>Yes, I do have a S! He went through the application/audition process for BFA Acting programs 3 years ago. We are doing it all over again with my D this year. I have to say, it’s a whole lot easier this time around!</p>
