I've been in school for three weeks. I'm exhausted. This year I have to:

-Make good grades in all AP/Honors classes
-Win a rowing medal or two
-Become president of Recycling Club
-Practice cello 4 hours a week and beat all the other cellists again at getting into Senior Clinic
-Get National Merit
-Continue my job

It's nice to have a place to come where everyone else is going through the same sorts of things. Good luck everyone!

-Maintain my rank as valedictorian, for if I screw up now, I'll never be able to redeem myself.
-Make 5s on all 7 APs I am taking this year (4 in class, 3 on my own time)
-Do well in helping my debate team attain victory (we're competing in the National Forensic League this year instead of the state league).
-Earn a phenomenal SAT score (2350, perhaps?)
-Become president of National Honors Society.
-Get some progress done on my novel-in-the-making.
-Attain scholarships via FastWeb.
-Strive to do well in cross country and track and field.

This year I need to:
-Get straight A's in everything, 5's on 3 APs
-SAT I : 2200>, SAT IIs, ACT
-Make All-State Music Festival
-Help scholars bowl and debate teams win state championships if possible
-Do community service
-Prepare myself for college apps process
-ETC...

What exactly do you do in Scholars' Bowl? It sounds like a lot of fun. Is it kind of like an organization where the team goes to grand quiz competitions?

Yeah, basically. We compete against others in our state, in addition to stupid Hanover, New Hampshire who always beat us and only get in since half their students are from Vermont (right on the border). It's infuriating, but always motivating.

It's very fun, though. My chem teacher's our coach and we practice every week.

Let's see...all the stuff I'm doing this year:
-7 AP exams (I want all 5's!!! grr)
-6 AP classes, 2 community college classes
-SAT (aiming for 2100+)
-ACT (aiming for 32+)
-SAT II's (physics, math 2c...one more senior year)
-Volunteering, around 100 hours
-National English Honor Society (this will be like my only EC) XD
-Apply for Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
-Apply for some nice scholarships :)
-Increase rank in class to somewhere around 3/300

I've been in school for a week now. AP Calc and AP Physics are keeping me busy.

You know, it hasn't been that bad so far - besides the fact that my calc and physics teachers have been giving me ridiculous amounts of homework that they haven't collected for grading. Gahh, I hate those types of teachers.

I tried to do most of my SAT/ACT studying during the summer.

Heck, I don't even know why I'm working so hard. UF isn't THAT hard to get into. If there's one good thing out of all of this, it's that I'll have knocked down about 2 years of college with all the AP and dual enrollment I'm doing. XD

i never saw this thread! :) probably because i usually stay around the musical theatre major board...but yeah, i'm about to be a junior as well.

All of this nonsense for a state school? No offense. It's gunna be a long year for you chief.

i'm done with SATs!! haha well kind of, i should probably take a third SAT2 -__-' i'm excited guys. i'm kind of weird though - is anyone looking forward to logging onto CC at the end of senior year to find out who else here will go to your college too? XD i think that would be cool for some reason.

I'll have to deal with 2 AP's and 3 honors. I've heard I'll prob have on average 6-7 hrs of homework :( I'm also on Exec. board of UN club and Amnesty International, as well as a member of other clubs. I have a part-time job at Dunkin Donuts (friday nights and weekends, prob on average 15-20 hr/wk), PSAT and SAT studying. argh. And Im so used to having a social life, I really dont want to let it go this year, but Im not seeing very much time for even like a considerable sleep, never mind going out. Oh, and I should be getting my license in November,so um, I need to make sure I pass that I guess lol

For this year i have to
-Win in Nationals for Math HONOR Society, HARD as shi zz
-Get straight A's so my rank will boost crazy!! around 1-10/1430
-Join Debate Team, win competitions
-Join BPA
-Join Best Buddies
-SAT around 2000
-I am also involved in my Praise Team in Church I play the Drums, we are going to get recorded in an album.

-Complete online courses for Higher Rank
-Practice the language, Korean
-I love myself

Aw, good luck all you '09ers! I remember entering junior year and feeling like I would drown. It actually went by extremely fast, and I was genuinely surprised. Just a few words of advice from an '08er (swamped with college apps):

Avoid minesweeper at all costs, especially if you have 3 English papers due the next day. Been there, done that. (88 on advanced btw :P)

APs have curves! Relax!

bring plenty of chocolate to SATs, they help you concentrate (personally prefer Godiva, but take your pick)

Take lunch off and have some fun, please, for you own sanity

don't stress over PSATs (I got a 216 and ended up getting a 2380 on SATs)

hunt up some of your school's former juniors and ask for old assignments. don't copy, but look at them for help when you need it! It saves a ton of time instead of agonizing over homework when you could be doing something else

don't take SAT IIs all at once, space them out. It makes cancelling them easier and it's a lot less pressure on you at one single time

be ready with plenty of music for those long tedious hours at the desk

bribe your sibling into being your personal servant so you don't have to move to get to the refrigerator (Even if it means driving them around the whole summer sigh)

uninstall AIM, MSN, trillian, Yahoo, etc.

if you're going to procrastinate, at least do something fun instead of sitting there staring at the screen with a dead expression plastered to your face (again, personal experience)

find a buddy to whine to; it does wonders

dream about being a senior (but only if it doesn't depress you)

most importantly: remain optimistic. Tomorrow will always be another day (as cheesy as that sounds, yes, it is true) :)

Have fun you guys! See you on the other side!
