Class of 2012 Likely Letters

So, is there any truth to this "three waves" business? Or are all of the academic likely letters already sent?

I'm thinking there are multiple waves, because some people said they got their letters on the 14th, whereas mine was dated the 14th.

How are people notified? Is it done by email, mail, status on dartmouth's site, or some combination of all?

snail mail

yea i also noticed how many ppl had their letter dated feb 8th, but mine was feb 14th...talk about one heck of a love letter..

Any other dates besides 8, and 14?

Yeah i got a likely letter...somewhat amused considering I forgot to submit the peer evaluation form but still very pleased

Anyone know how many likely letter dartmouth sent out last year?

sorry for the double post

perhaps Dartmouth is sending likely letters out to applicants as they read their applications - so maybe there are no structured 'waves.' I just hope they keep sending them though....

By the way I got my LL without having done an interview so I don't think the interviews really make a difference.

Dartmouth sends out ~ 500 likely letters.

I got one! I also got one to UVa.

Anyone from the west coast get one?

Me

10 char

I received a likely letter on Tuesday, the 19th. I am in California and it says it was sent on the 15th. I am not a legacy, URM, or athlete and I don't have any "hooks" that I know of. I didn't do an interview either. Like someone said earlier, I don't think it makes much of a difference. I just think they use it if two applicants are extremely similar and they need to be differentiated from each other. Good luck to everyone who applied!

any internationals getting one?

Nope. Haven't got one here ..

maybe they dont send out to internationals except for canada

Three people at my school got one...Dartmouth sends out too many likely letters..
