Class of 2012: Where are you applying to?

I WANT TO APPLY TO CA SCHOOLS! thanks mom. i plan on moving there after i graduate anyway.

on a side note, man i almost made 100th post :(

I eventually want to move to CA I think but OOS is so expensive for college :frowning:

Whoops haha sorry!

My dream school is trinity in Dublin.
oh money, the ruiner of all dreams…

oh parents, who love us so and are protective and dont want us to go far because they know more about the world and we are naive.

and OOS is crazy!! at umass i would pay in state due to the new england regional program. yay :)

Do it!! Secretly. lol.

Okay, updated list in order of reach match safety:

Stanford
University of Southern California
Notre Dame
Vanderbilt
Loyola Marymount
U Washington
Chapman
Auburn
CSU Long Beach

that wouldnt be fair to people who want/and are ABLE to go lol. plus it would only make me even more angry

and here’s my list, especially for Marine lol

EA:
MIT
NEU
Rutgers
UMass

RD/EE:
Wellesley
Smith
BU
RPI
Yale

UCB
UCLA
UCSD
UCD
UCI
UCSB
USC
Cal Poly
UW

I’m pretty much staying on the Pacific as going anywhere else would be a burden on my family.

I want Berkeley and LA the most and anything below that will be pretty disappointing to me. SD is kinda pushing it, though.

@CPU: MIT EA :D

I’m getting out of the South if it’s the last thing I do.
West coast baby. USC is my #1 choice but if it doesn’t work out I can just transfer!

transfers get less aid $ :(

i’m gonna make sure i go to the RIGHT school. even if that means staying overnight for two weeks sr year lol

if i get into MIT, i’m not applying anywhere else. seriously i love smith and everything, but no.

Oh yea, that’s right… ehhh.

If I get into USC for the scholarship, then I’m withdrawing my Vanderbilt app. I love it, but… :D

Southern California hands down!!

I’m debating USC too. Maybe I’ll try! Do they have any merit scholarships?

Sent from my iPhone using CC

Yep they do  You should apply!

Ooh okay! I think I will

Certain:

MIT
Harvey Mudd
UChicago
Rice
Carnegie Mellon
UC Berkeley (safety)
UCLA (backup safety)
UC Santa Barbara - College of Creative Studies

Uncertain:

Caltech (low admit rate + didn’t take physics, due to self-studying both B and C AP exams)
Swarthmore (low admit rate + “never heard of it”)
Carleton (“never heard of it”)
Grinnell (cornfields + “never heard of it”)
URochester (“never heard of it”)
UC San Diego (not particularly interested + might be a waste of app money)

where “never heard of it” probably means my parents might not send me there if I can go to Berkeley instead.

I’m not sure if I’m going to apply EA to anything (definitely not ED, since MIT is my first choice), because I might need the support of my first semester grades. I took Algebra 2 in 10th grade, no precalc/calc in 11th grade, and am taking multivariable calculus in senior year, so an A in that might help boost my “mathiness” credibility.

-Columbia (top choice!)
-UChicago (2nd choice!)
-Yale
-Amherst
-Pomona (kinda far, but…whatevs)
-McGill (probably a safety)
-UCONN (parent-mandated in-state safety)
-maybe Harvard as a random fantasy fling

Energize- nice list!

Jake- my mom wanted me to apply to UCONN as a financial safety, but if I get into a top school, it’ll actually be cheaper than UCONN

The funny part is that even for in-state tuition, UCONN is not all that cheap. (I’m assuming you’re in-state…) I have nothing against the school and if I got good fin.aid. I would consider it. Buuuuuut, I don’t really want to be at college with half of my graduating class lol.

EXACTLY! Everyone goes there!
I don’t want to sound conceited, but people who BS’d their way through high school get in, I want to get accepted somewhere that seems nearly impossible and that 99% of the students worked just as hard as I did.

Yeah I am instate. No good schools here lol.

Honestly I don’t know what tier schools I should be looking at…
I have a 4.15 weighted
library volunteer job 8 yrs
Girl Scout 11 yrs-earned bronze and silver award, working on gold(similar to bs eagle)
NHS
varsity tennis 4 yrs
swim team 4 yrs
3 APs jr year
3 or 4 more next year…

I’ve gotten a lot of stuff from colleges because of the psat…but some are very well known and others have very high acceptance rates, so I don’t know…any help?

What’s your unweighted GPA? Colleges use that.

What is a similar major to anthropology? Maybe that’s more commonly available? I’m applying to MIT, Yale, Cornell, RPI, and Wellesley. I don’t think I have a good chance, but it doesn’t hurt to try
