Great to see that you really are reading each post of your seniors. I just want to tell you that ECs are important, and i didn’t write about my CV here so you might have got wrong info…but be sure that the particular activity doesn’t hamper your GPA AND/OR SAT…which are no doubt the ace cards…watch out 3333, stag, the ISc topper girl…they got due to their SAT and GPA…so, what i wanna tell u is: SAT AND GPA play an upper hand for LACs, but for Ivies, you are ***ed up if u just have those…

@Pushpa Kamal
well i think u are totally confused abt ECs…
i totally agree with rockhardabs and sixstringsrocker…dont let any space for improvement!
do it right now
the most perfect application…
and that does requires ECAs…not only a ****ed transcript with some 5 to 7 As…and ur SAT with almost perfect score…

there have been cases where people with very good grades have not been into good places…what abt those incidents?
what we see and what we read at cc is just a few people…

and NEVER…EVER…try to judge the application process at american colleges/unis…its the most random thing u might ever see in your life…

This year a guy with 2280 (CR 780) got into Franklin & Marshall only with good aid…He is my friend…Poor him! He had almost everything perfect in his side as I saw it

…But then see…this is an example…You just can’t speculate…

Another case…one of my friends in BNKS…had almost perfect ECAs and he did it because he was enthusiastic about it and not just resume-oriented…visited places more than you can imagine…received awards and honoraries more than you can imagine…but when it came to his grades, there was a bit of a slump there…and it was purely because of his ECA’s that he had to visit places abroad and out of KTM …and he had a hard time juggling both studies and the work… It seems as though he hasnt been accepted anywhere so far…even though he has awesome recommendations…he is a good writer as well…

My point: DOnt speculate…once more is!!!

ROCKHARDABS: is your BNKS friend “inspi(red)”
anyways, i think that you must find a balance between transcript stuff and ECAs. being prepared for anything and everything.

I personally think that ECA’s are a complete waste of time. Furthermore, I dont think that they matter at all. If you’re applying to Ivies, then go ahead, but if you’re aiming at LACs then don’t waste time. Instead, devote time on your SATs.

LACs do not look at ECAs???Can you clarify it?

hmmm… back after a long time and felt happy that the thread is getting a bit more busy… thanks to seniors …

I dont know what happened, but I had a pretty low SAT score and I didn’t focus much on academics either, but I got in a LAC. My ECs weren’t bad. Don’t not have any ECs, keep yourself in the safe side.

i thank each one of u for your views…is…

@rockhard

i think you are talking about the Minimal education guy in post #183

yea true that…iss…MIE guy is…

YES!!! NOW THE THREADS HEATIN UP!!!
but guys since what i have heard- lacs work on makin a student more of a perfect human being rather than a perfect professionals, dont they look into ur ecas??

thanks to all of you… following your threads are helping a lot…
one thing always bothering me is about career??? ok what about career after colege???

@prasadian perfect? haha. i dont think that ECAs provide the least bit of help towards being “Perfect” Its just an utter waste of time. even though the schools tell you that ECAs are very important in the admission process, just look at the trend. there were many 2014ers who had no ECA’s at all. but still they got into great schools!

@ROCKHARDABS
is nimesh really wasted??..i mean didnt he get any college?
i feel really sorry for him…

he has capacity to do something…and i guess if not this time he will try next time…best of luck for him…i really appreciate what he has done for nepal and for himself too…

@ pinkfloydforlife, if you are willing to go with the trend, I have nothing more to say… I believed in the trend and it cost me Lafayette…the rest is upto you.

^ I second that ROCKHARDABS.

@confidential2015>> this is college CONFIDENTIAL: dont post names or anything that gives someone away

@ rockhardabs
But you had good ECAs hoina ra?Then how come it cost you?Clarify plzzz…

@rockhardabs well it did cost you lafayette, but it didnt cost you bard, college of wooster and jacobs now did it? well i think instead of wasting time on the ECAs i personally prefer to indulge more in the SAT section. but its just my personal opinion. its just a MOO point…LOL

@sixstringsrocker
sorry dude…couldnot control it…
will care abt it from next time onwards…
