Class of 2016 decisions thread

This thread will be where people who got accepted, deferred, or rejected can talk and share their stats if they wish! Feel free to ask scholarship, deadline, and any other types of questions you have and i'm sure someone will be able to answer them! Good luck to you all!

I will start by saying I received my acceptance packet yesterday! I applied early action.

I thought that Early Action decisions would not be received until Feb. 1? Did you mean Early Decision?

My son was also accepted early action on Christmas eve. The letter says: “Though we have not yet reached our published admission notification date of February 1, given your outstanding credentials, we are excited to take this unprecedented step and provide you with early notification of your acceptance”.

Congrats to those who have heard! Is notification only received via snail mail, or is there an electronic notice too (email or somehow via the website?)

My son applied Early Decision/binding and was accepted on December 15.

Several kids from his high school just got their acceptance letters a week after he did. I’m wondering why they are releasing Early Action decisions so far ahead of the Feb. 1 date?

I applied early action and received the same letter on christmas eve! It came via snail mail; however, I checked the application status website that night and it had been updated with the same letter that I received in the mail. I am not exactly sure why they are sending them out so early because the deadline for early action was less than a month ago (dec 1st). None of my friends who applied early action have heard yet.

Those of you accepted EA, what were your stats? Thanks

Honors applicants (Nov 3rd) received EA acceptances early.

I am not an honors applicant so i’m not sure why I received my acceptance so early… as far as my stats go:

Very excited to hear of my acceptance earlier than expected! Miami is one of my top choices, I have also been accepted into Penn State and Pitt for business.

Accepted into the honors program! Anybody else hear about the Harrison?

habc12: thank you very much!

and congratulations to everyone who has been accepted! :)

Got accepted on December 24th (Christmas Eve) - early action.

GPA W - 4.1
CLASS RANK - 20%
ACT- 29
SAT - 1800

Hope this helps, class rank may be a little skewed since I come from a class of 900+

Interesting…this is my 3rd to apply to MU in 4 years. The other two applied for the Harrison/Honors as well. They got their Honors acceptance before Christmas, but never got a packet from the general admit office until the Feb or March date. S just got admitted to Honors and got the general admit letter/packet Christmas Eve. Two years ago D2 was given unexpected early admit letters to LACs. They explained that they were sure she was to be admitted so why make her wait. This, along with an early submit of the application, must have been why laxforlife was sent a letter even though no honors application was completed. They are trying not to lose a good student to a school with rolling admissions.

My son’s packet did not include any financial information. I saw on another thread that someone got a separate letter in their packet with financial information. My son did not get that. We don’t expect anything except the academic scholarship as listed on their website. Did anyone else get financial information in their packet?

S’s stats:

GPA UW - 3.94
ACT - 29
Class President 4 years

Congrats to all.

Accepted into the business school as an OOS:

GPA: 3.78 WGPA: 4.48
SAT: 1910

10 AP classes, got 5’s and 4’s on all the ones I’ve taken so far.

Varsity soccer and lacrosse
lots of community service

Class president for a year

I received a financial aid letter two days after my acceptance that said I would get merit money for my GPA and SAT score. The ranges (scores to $) are on their website.

I was accepted Early Action on Christmas Eve.
ACT: 26
GPA: 3.7 UW
ECs: TONS!
Essay: I think I put a really good spin on it!

They sent my scholarship letter informing me of what I have been awarded already!

laxforlife. The letter you received two days after your acceptance letter was for the merit money as listed on the website. You will get a letter in March with your final financial package. If you are eligible for FA in grants and/or loans it will be presented to you in that package. It is very important to Miami that you file a FASFA, “…even if you think you are not eligible for anything.” They are very organized with their informational packages and orientation programs, and actually…pretty much everything!
