Don’t gt excited about the screen going blank on Gibson. This happened so many times to my D2 during her constant checking last year and it meant nothing. She ended up being accepted at the end of November, I can’t tell you how many times we saw that blank screen!

got accepted today!! how long after it’s posted on Gibson do people usually receive the formal letter?

wow tulanehopeful that was quick didnt you say it was fully processed like two days ago?

Tulanehopeful - It usually arrives in 3-5 days, but sometimes can take a little longer.

14wilsc12 - yes it was processed yesterday!! I have no idea how it all happened so quickly but I won’t argue!

and thank you fallenchemist!

I think sometimes it depends on what materials the school gets first. If they have everything except one item weeks before they can actually mark the app complete, then assuming there is nothing in that item to change their minds, the approval can be very fast. Especially if the admissions people are in the office to act on it quickly. Sometimes it is just luck as well, the right things coming together at the right time. Dwelling on this level of the process is ultimately not very useful, but completely understandable given the importance of this decision in your lives. Good time to take up yoga.

I got the Gibson acceptance notice on a Friday (about 3 weeks after it said complete) and I received the letter and scholarship info the Monday after, it was really fast

Ah, sorry, I just saw your question, FC- I’m currently in the process of applying for financial aid. They are asking for a lot of different things for verification, so it’s taking a good bit of work, but their financial aid office seems to be pretty adequate. I also received my transfer credit evaluation, and only one of the courses I’ve taken at my current school won’t transfer, which is pretty exciting.

I still haven’t received my acceptance letter, though, which is odd because my mailing address is less than 10 miles away from Tulane.

Good luck to everyone else who’s still waiting to hear back! I know it’s stressful, but if all else fails, remember that they have to let you know by December if you applied EA or SCEA- and that ought to be relieving when considering that there are schools that don’t release any decisions until April!

You should have gotten that letter by now. Probably worth asking them to resend. It either never got mailed somehow, or got delivered to the wrong address or something.

just wondering, does anyone know what hours usually people find their decisions? i mean i’m guessing its not going to be at like midnight but is there a certain time that they get sent out?

There doesn’t seem to be a particular time.

Congrats! But why would you think anything from Tulane, since you knew you had applied, was junk mail? Just wondering.

Anyway, I don’t know your stats but they are obviously very very good. Don’t forget there are a couple full tuition scholarships offered by Tulane, the DHS and the Paul Tulane Award, that offer a total of 125 winners. New this year is the Stamps, which is a full ride plus some other benefits. I think there are 5 of those. Seems like you might be a candidate.

Very happy to report that D was accepted at Tulane this morning! Applied EA, sent in app around beginning of October but also mailed an art portfolio supplement last week. She is beyond thrilled! Couldn’t wear her Tulane shirt to school today because the seniors all got Minions t-shirts for Halloween. Lol

Congratulations! We are still on cloud nine, it’s such a wonderful feeling!

DYohann - I can totally see how it all blurs together. My D was the same way, just threw away most of the college slicks she received, and there were hundreds. The only ones she paid attention to were the ones that were especially well done (actually that may have been more me, because I professionally admire work that stands out. I think it was the University of Arizona that had one that was really gorgeous. Maybe ASU, not sure now), ones from school that have immediate name recognition (of course we opened the letter from Harvard), or ones that managed to present something intriguing right on the cover (like McGill that talked about getting a bilingual education, and that actually led to a campus visit).

Anyway, come on back if you have questions about those scholarships.

Congrats to you and your D, NYMom3Kids. I know you both worked hard for this. She will love it at Tulane.

Thanks fallenchemist! We did! Lol.

MYMon3Kids - Yeah, but isn’t just a great feeling to have this one “in the bank”, so to speak? So great to know that they will be going somewhere that is high quality, even if none of the other applications turn out positive. I am speaking in generalities, not about you specifically. I know Tulane was #1 for you guys. For you, it is 5 months of no worries compared to those that have to wait until March 31 to know for sure where they will end up.

My daughter has had her application complete for about a week and she received an email yesterday stating her portfolio had been received and would be reviewed and added to her application. We know the portfolio isn’t needed to make an admission decision and hope it adds to her application. From the posts here it seems like the process is fast for those who get admitted. For deferrals does it take longer? We hope this is not the case. Her older sister is at Tulane and loves it but D does not test well even though she has good extra curric, a good gpa ( 28ACT, 3.9gpa with honors and 3ap)
Such an anxious time!

Hi Carb. It is an anxious time, but I would think your D has a pretty good shot. Strong GPA, some AP courses, and while the ACT is a bit on the lower side, it really is not low in the absolute sense. Tulane’s 25th percentile is 29, so there are a fair number of students with 28 or lower. Plus she has a sibling that is succeeding at Tulane, and that does count for something I imagine. The ACT is just one piece, everything else looks positive.

To answer your question, deferrals usually do seem to come more towards the end of the time of EA applicants. Try not to read too much into the wait, the closer it gets to Nov. 15 the more slammed the admissions people get. Deep breaths, they help.
