Class of 2020 RD Dicussion

Emory posted on their admissions blog today!
Regular Decision results come out on March 30th (Wednesday) at 6pm

@chris9314, that’s so late!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO THATS IN FOREVER >:(

that’s a week later than their previous release dates… UGH WHY

Does Emory give out any general merit aid? Or it is really just Emory Scholars?

@jmccusk Hi! I just made this account to comment on this haha. I was asked to send in a supplement too (for flute), but I never got a reply after sending it - like a “thank you” email you mentioned, didn’t get one… Maybe they didn’t even listen to my supplement… :confused: Hope I’m not the only one that didn’t get a response

Has anyone still not been contacted by Emory about the upcoming decision release date? (It was sent out today)

Yes. I received an email from them, informing abou the release date.

@1nfinite I also got one (clarinet) and never received any followup.

Hey guys, I’m a current Emory freshman who applied and was accepted RD last year. I just want to wish you guys all good luck and I’m sure you will do great things whether you attend Emory or a different school.

@Benjamin243 Thanks! Would you mind posting your stats please?

Haha, I don’t want to do that bc I don’t want to give an impression of what does or does not get you into emory. Also, im pretty sure emory doesn’t like when current students give that info out. I will say that my SAT, GPA were within the accepted range, that is all.

@Benjamin243 Alright. Fair enough

@1nfinite Hi! Hmm that may be because I sent in a vocal supplement and you and @janevyl both sent instrumental supplements so we were probably dealing with two different faculty members! Bradley Howard emailed me.

Hi guys! I have a 1970 on the SAT and 40/45 on the IB with a GPA of ~3.67 (my school doesn’t calculate but that’s what it equals to). Pretty strong ECs and supplement essay. What are my chances? Thank you for your help.

@usauni2020 Tbh i got accepted this year as a scholar and to both emory and oxford, and i don’t think stats are as important as much as how your essays are written to reflect yourself as an individual who can contribute something to the Emory community. I think that’s why it’s important to get a feel for what the school is about before writing the essays so you can align yourself with their principles while also showing them how your principles align with theirs. i hope this helps! :slight_smile: I’m sorry, it’s just hard to base things off only stats because I really feel like Emory looked beyond the stats which is great! (as long as you’re in the range)

This is an article shedding insight into their admissions process and what they think about. It’s long but I thought it was very interesting and insightful. :smiley:

also, idk if this is a thing, but i think if you’re accepted you may see a “submit admission deposit” icon under/ above the “check admission decision” link on the left in your opus account because i was told (as a scholar finalist) back in February that I was accepted through communications, but never had that link before. I finally noticed it today. I was just curious and wanted to know if others had this same link? (and this is coming from someone already knowing they were accepted) or whether this may be a stretch?

@BlackHuntress Don’t see that button :confused: Might’ve been rejected… Does anyone else see this button

@BlackHuntress I don’t see that button and I was already notified of my admission through Essence of Emory
