Class of 2020 RD

Can someone post the link for the portal? I logged onto to my prospective student portal and it does not even link to say that I have submitted an application.

Thanks for any help.

info from one of the earlier posts: - https://myau.american.edu , if you have not made an account previously you need you AU ID, name, last 4 numbers of your social, and birthday/last four digits of home phone to sign up

@rsdshome - Thanks!

My portal isn’t working anymore- very strange.

Initially it had shown that I would be receiving $12,000/year in merit. Now I can’t get back on! I guess we will all know soon either way…

Originally (about a week or two ago), I was unable to make a login for the portal. I tried Tuesday, and found my financial aid/merit package! I have not found the congratulations screen. @perksofbeingdani what menu did you find that page on? Also, I live in Ohio and have not yet received anything in the mail. Congrats to accepted students! Hope to see you in the fall!

How do we make AU account? I know how to acces to our application portal one… But I’ve never created a username or password. Can someone help me out?

@beaglee105 Google “American University student portal” and the link should come up. Click on the link to go to the log in page. Near the bottom of the page, click “create account”, then a registration page should come up. After registering, your username is generated. Use this username and a password that you had created to log in. To find out if you were admitted, go to “Life @ AU” (a tab at the top) to the subtopic “New Student”. On the right select “enrollment agreement” and you may find an acceptance letter. To see financial aid, go to the tab “finances”, the subtopic “financial aid”, then click “Award Letter” on the right. @rsdshome also had some helpful tips, posted above. Good luck!

@rsdshome are you sure https://myau.american.edu is the link? It does not let me make one.

It’s not letting me log into the portal :frowning: This sounds stuck up, but my stats are pretty high, so I feel like it is unlikely that I wasn’t admitted. I got a likely letter from GWU, too, so I feel like I’m probably admitted. I swear AU is just trying to kill us with stress

I wasn’t able to make one before but I can now. But the term says spring 2017 so does that mean guaranteed transfer?

Has anyone from NYS been able to log on to the portal that has not received anything in the mail yet?

@diver575 I was able to log onto the portal a few weeks ago (haven’t tried since), but I haven’t gotten anything in the mail yet. I’m Rochester area-- I’m thinking today or tomorrow for a letter, since MD and NJ got some yesterday.

Thanks, we were never able to log on. So I quess that is not good. My daughter graduated from AU last year. I thought that would at least consider that when reviewing my sons application. I will not be very happy with AU if he does not get in.

@curlykat did you demonstrate interest? AU is known for rejecting high stats applicants who haven’t shown interest because they think they’re being used as a safety.

He sent a email to his admissions advisor. And he did mention that he did not visit because his sister graduated from AU last year. She was on the swim team and as a family we spent a lot of time at AU. We invested alot of money and time into American. So there was really no need to do a visit. O well!! It was one of his top choices and we were not expecting much or if any aid from them. AU is not generous in financial aid.

was just able to create a portal. I am from maryland and have not received anything in the mail yet. hopefully this is good news!

Can you put your stats GPA/ACT/SAT/accepted/declined/waitlisted…it can help others who apply next year.

American rejects a lot of high stats applicants. They don’t want to be a safety school. Secondly, a lot of schools are going to spring semester or winter quarter admission. There are usually more spaces at schools after winter break due to people graduating or being abroad for spring semester. If you have high stats and were admitted spring semester, they may be trying to figure out just how much you want to attend American. American wants students who want to be there.

I am really on the fence about American after reading up on the financial aid stories. The school sounds amazing, as do the programs I was admitted into, but the aid they’ve given isn’t nearly enough for me (or for others on this thread, it seems). I don’t want to commit to AU with what little aid they’ve given me now just to lose it in the following years. It really rubs me the wrong way. I wish all of us could’ve received more aid.
