@star4fish Good news arrived. My post yesterday YES from SC and by portal Accepted to PSU Smeal UP Fall. I can finally breathe a little, the wait was stressful and I certainly had my doubts but all worth it

We did get the VIP ID e-mail from financial aid a week or so before the YES! envelope arrived. I had hoped that was a good sign, but you never really know!
@Amser409 my S got the VIP ID e-mail a week or so ago too but no YES envelope yet 
@bbaker10 did you hear anything yet? My S also has the personal tab and financial aid tab but that’s it. Not sure if that changes or an answer just comes in the mail?
@xaviermom2017 My S has not heard anything yet sadly. He called to check in and ask about it, the person that answered just said he received the financial aid login because we filled out the FAFSA, they didn’t even look at his actual account.
My daughter was deferred from early with a 3.7 GPA, 1210 SAT tons of leadership, extracurricular, and 6 AP’s and mostly honors. Her friend applied regular with a 3.2 2 AP’s and lower test scores and got in this week. Not really sure what is going on…
@xaviermom2017 @lopeztlo7 My son filled out the FAFSA and got his VIP ID a couple weeks ago. Tonight his portal was updated to show that he is enrolled in Pre-Business (no status update or anything, just an Admissions tab with Registration info that shows Pre-Business). Nothing in the mail yet though. Anyone know what Pre-Business means? He put IB on his application.
@bbaker10 I think Pre-Business may be Pre-IB (but I’m not completely sure about that). Even if you wanted to major in IB, it’s a selective major. The only way to get into it is through cohort, HC, or competitive admission after their freshman year.

@SCLADY12 I am not sure what her friend choose but my daughter wants to major in sports management
@lopeztlo7 . My daughter wants to major in Retail Merchandising/Management which is in the college of HRSM. Several of my daughter’s friends who applied to HRSM are deferred (under second review is what USC calls it). We are also in state. Her stats are competitive, but do not blow it out of the park. Several of her friends (based on what my daughter tells me) have competitive stats. Not sure what is going on this year in that particular college.
@SCLADY12 DS applied for same major and was also deferred in December. Still waiting for “second review” decision. We are OOS with good stats but not outstanding stats (3.8, 1100 SAT). Getting a little nervous when I hear how selective it is this year.
@sbgal2011 Yes, we are nervous as well. Her counselor said that this was very different this year. A lot of my friends who have children who started at USC last year and the year before were accepted with lower credentials than their children who got deferred this year. Very frustrating!
@bbaker10 so when you sign on to the student section in addition to a personal tab and financial tab there is now
an admissions tab too? Are we checking in the same place? Just not sure where to look. He has a personal tab and a financial tab. That’s it. Please let me know. Thanks so much and congrats on the apparent admission
@bbaker10 Has your son received anything in the mail yet? My daughters VIP now has 4 tabs and on the admission one there is a place to pay your deposit. Fingers crossed this is a good sign but I try not to read anything into college admissions…
@xaviermom2017 @lopeztlo7 Yes, when he logs into https://cas.auth.sc.edu/cas/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Fssomgr.onecarolina.sc.edu%3A443%2Fssomanager%2Fc%2FSSB%3Fret_code%3D there are now four tabs: Personal Information, Student, Account Information, and Financial Aid. As of today, he has not received anything in the mail, but like @lopeztlo7 there is a tab to pay Enrollment Deposit
