Class of 2021 Merit Scholarships

@carachel2 I agree.

Thanks everyone for sharing your info. My S got into Business School and rec’d $20k merit scholarship over 4 years - 34 ACT 3.5uw\4.1w GPA, plenty of AP and honors, private school, no ranking, in-state. My question is for all the folks that shared their merit scholarships were they “per year” or “over 4 years”? Thanks all!

@daddyGR - Most are quoting per year.

So when do we hear about chancellors interviews?

I got $20k per year but no chancellors invite :frowning: 35ACT, 4.0 UW, 4.96 W OOS

I got full tuition with no chancellors invite. 35 ACT, 108/100 W, 00S, 11 APs, 1/268 public school

@shooting4stars, In the past, invitations to interviews were sent out in the late winter/early spring. I will be happy to share more information once I have it!

I got my acceptance letter back in October with no mention of any scholarships or aid, does this mean I didn’t get anything, or does it come in a separate letter?

@College1600
It comes in a separate letter between now and March 1st. Good luck to you!

@college1600, As flashk has said - scholarship notification comes separately. Those who are selected to receive a scholarship will hear back sometime between November and March 1.

Best of luck!

Is the date of your receipt of a scholarship indicative of its value–if you hear back sooner does that mean you are more likely to receive a bigger scholarship?

@lunamir I don’t think so. I just found out on Monday and I received full tuition (OOS student). I applied October 31st as well.

can i still get at least full tuition with 3.99 uw, 34 act, and 10 aps? i feel like most ppl who got full tuition had at least a 35 act. is 34 too low?

also i received my decision mid november and still have not heard for scholarships…how long does it usually take between decision and scholarship notification? does this mean i will not receive any scholarships or not that much?

@Eeeee127 …I’m sure anything could happen. But so far everyone with a 34C ACT has received either 10K per year or 15K per year.

@carachel2 seriously 1 point can make such a huge difference??? i was very close to a 35 though, but i got a 31 in science. I have 35 superscore, so will they consider that?

@Eeeee127 --merit aid at Pitt is competitive it seems and there are no absolute rules. Some with a 34 have received the 10K and some have received 15K. No one here on these boards has received full-tuition with a 34. Quite a few with a 35 have also received 15K…and still others 20K and some full-tuition.

Pitt states they do not superscore the ACT for merit purposes.

Hang in there! I’m just a rookie observer this merit season—wish I could make the rules and hand out the $$!

Can we all cling to the thought that there might be a redistribution of wealth in April from those who received merit from Pitt but who are using it only as a back up for all of their ED and SCEA schools? Because that would be awesome!! :))

@carachel2 this girl at my school with a 4.0 gpa and 36 act already got a full ride to pitt (oos) but i dont think shes going to go and the thing is most ppl don’t make the decision until may 1 and by then its too late for colleges to redistribute scholarships :frowning:

yeah shes applying to schools like harvard and she would only go to pitt if accepted into the gap program.

@Eeeee127 --the redistribution thing is a part of my pipe dream! I doubt it ever works like that. It’s a fun dream though! Hopefully she won’t take it for granted and would let the school know ASAP as soon as she decides.
