Class of 2021 Merit Scholarships

does pitt limit the number of scholarships given per school? I know two people at my school who applied to pitt with a 36 act and 3.9 and 4.0 gpa so will they receive the higher scholarship over me?

@Eeeee127 @carachel2 Pitt does not redistribute the scholarships handed out. Admissions has said before that they purposefully over-award their funds knowing that not every will accept. Good luck to you both!

@panic2017 --yes, you can see in my post that I said it was “part of my pipe dream” and “I doubt that is how it works.” I was joking

I received 15k so it would be the same amount as I pay for my state school.

$15,000, no Chancellor’s invite

OOS, Dietrich A&S (Chemistry)
34 ACT, top 7%

I applied undecided, and I just received my scholarship info today. I got 10k and nominated for the Chancellor’s scholarship.
34 ACT, 4.5 wGPA, and I also sent my AP scores (three 5s). My school doesn’t rank, so no info on that.

Daughter, OOS got honors admit with invitation to apply for GAP. 35 ACT, good mix of AP/College courses, top 1%, good EC. Full tuition scholarship, with no invitation to apply for Chancellor scholarship. Really excited for her!

I recieved admission to the Guarenteed Admission Pharmacy Program as well as the Honors College, $15,000 in scholarships a year, and a nomination for the Chancellor’s Scholarship

I’m OOS, scored a 34 on the ACT, have a 4.24 GPA, am ranked 14/284. I took a total of 9 AP’s and 2 college classes throughout high school.

I applied to Swanson school of engineering and was admitted in the November teens. I have a 32 ACT, 1390 SAT, 5 APS 93 weighted GPA. Anyone think I have any chance at financial aid? Also Im an OOS Male (New Jersey unfortunately)

Not merit but perhaps financial aid

Financial aid will depend on the FAFSA EFC.

Was there a specific day of the week that everyone has been receiving letters with scholarship awards? I know that the scholarship committee meets on Fridays, so wasn’t sure if that leads to consistent days of the week that letters are sent out/received. Also wondering if there’s any chance of hearing any thing before the new year or if its unreasonable to expect anything until after the holidays?

@robincorn Did you receive the merit scholarship info this week/yesterday? Still hoping to hear before the holidays.

This was two years ago, but my D’s scholarship letter was mailed on a Monday. We received it on Thursday, but we are instate.

The letters that were mailed this week might still be on the way.

I received it on Wed, with a Dec 19th date. Origianlly accepted on Dec 3. I am surprised no one else has been posting this week. It is a great chanukah present for us. Good luck to everyone else.

@robicorn - Congrats! Did you apply for GAP?

Re: when merit letters are mailed. Purely speculation but I think the committee meets on Fridays and the letters are printed and mailed on Mondays.

It seems that the only applicants thus far who have received merit aid (based on ACT scores) are those who received 34 or higher composite scores. If anyone with a 33 ACT composite received merit aid (or knows someone else with that score who did) please let us know.

Just received my scholarship information in the mail. I got the full tuition scholarship, guaranteed acceptance into the public health masters program, and a nomination for the Chancellors scholarship. I had a 35 ACT, so I guess I don’t help as far as knowing whether those with an ACT score of below 35 are receiving full tuition scholarships.
