DD and we, her parents, would like to kindly request that Pitt refrain from sending any further mailings that aren’t scholarship related so as not to cause a temporary heart attack and severe stress caused by handling, staring at, deciding to open and then reading a letter that does not pertain to scholarships. Wink wink!
For anyone who has received the scholarship letter, just so we know what we are staring at while kindly waiting for DD to return home and open HER mail, is the envelope the scholarship letter comes in a large envelope or a standard size 10 where the letter is tri-folded?
LOL!
Big envelope
You people who can’t get your mind off merit awards are so funny!
LOL. Just kidding.
Two years ago it was a big (11×8, same size as acceptance letter) yellow envelope.
But I would recommend to open and read any and all letters from Pitt!
It seems as though the only scholarships awarded to date were given to those with an ACT of 36. Has anyone with an ACT of 35 or lower received one?
Interesting theory. So you think they are reviewing in order of standardized test scores?
@Madgie earlier in the thread, someone with a 2140 SAT was given a $10k scholarship.
My son with 35 has not received one yet…really hoping for one too:-)
My S with ACT 35 and 4.0 GPA, OOS, nothing yet!
35 here as well…hopefully soon!
35 here too. Applied October 31st
Weird theory, but I had noticed that trend as well.
DD has a 35, too and a 4.4 Weighted GPA. Applied JULY 20ish. Nothing yet.
Waiting is difficult.
The envelope was big - smelled like money with a hint of cardamom. I enjoyed it with a glass Chianti and some fava beans
Waiting is hard, yes, but in this forum, it is fun too
DD had a 37 with the extra credit. Still nothing =))
@appleMAC We call that “Doing a Hermione”.
The merit gods sense your panic - calm and nonchalance is required
I had a 2370 SAT, 3.96 unweighted GPA, took all of the highest level Math/Science classes and a lot of math/science extracurriculars but only got the $20k scholarship for engineering (OOS).
On the other hand, my brother got a full tuition scholarship for engineering with lower SAT score, lower GPA and almost no math/science extracurriculars two years ago.
I’m happy I got $20k, but I am a little disappointed I didn’t get a full tuition scholarship like my brother. It seems like there is a lot of randomness in the way they award the scholarships.
