@missnypizza does your daughter have any safeties she likes?
@missnypizza Sending good thoughts your and your D’s way.
@bisouu She was redirected to BA Theatre at Ball State which to me is a good safety since she has the opportunity to potentially audition again in the fall. (and $$$) She can’t see it right now. Mind you, she has been academically accepted to 11 schools of which she did not get into artistically and even some she didn’t pass the pre-screen to like Texas State and Pace…it’s tough. Not sure how this is going to play out. BOCO is the last big one and we have a couple of others…My D is a mess. And I can’t console her at this point.
@tabers Thank you! I appreciate it
@missnypizza Hugs from one Mom to another!!
@missnypizza I’m so very sorry to hear this. I know how painful this is and how awful it makes her feel. And you are right there is nothing you can do to make her feel any better. She has to grieve. Does she have any WL possibilities? Once all options are exhausted she will have to pick herself up and dust herself off and move forward. This business sucks, and the way she handles these rejections will reflect how she will handle them in the future. And there will be TONS. She MUST find a nugget of good in what she has on the table. This business is about making things happen and taking what you are dealt and showing your true spirit and rising above it all. Easier said than done I know. The month of March was the worst in our household too, but by April 1 we had made a decision and never looked back. Sending you both virtual hugs. Next year at this time you will wonder what all the fuss was about.
@missnypizza sending more ((hugs)) this is honestly the most horrible process. I think we naively went into this thinking my S’s talent would pull him through- many times there are so many other factors. You never know each year what each school will be looking for to build their company. We are fortunate that he has options- but he definitely has had some huge let downs as well. I will be keeping fingers crossed for your D. We have a friend who only got Boco last year and she loves it
@sopranomtmom Do you have something concrete on that MSM timetable? Cuz, if you’re right, I can get something else done!
@freddieggirl Haha! Is anything concrete in this crazy process? That info came via a current MSM student, and D seems to remember an email that said they would be notified by April 1. But who knows anymore? I’m just thankful that it seems like this is the final week of waiting - oh yeah, except for the continued waitlist waiting!
Is there a final decisions thread for this year? If so I can’t seem to find it. I am just wondering how many already know where they are going…even though as we know some schools won’t announce until the end of the week. I am wishing everyone the best of luck - I only found this site about a month ago and it has been such a comfort when a week would go by and we were going crazy and there was nothing in the mail - so nice to have support from others going through the same thing. We are now in limbo…and I am afraid this could go on for who knows how long. My daughter is waitlisted at Michigan and Carnegie Mellon. That’s crazy. They are of course her dream schools and she is soooo close - and yet it might not work out. So we are grateful and appreciative of the validation. And we sit and wait…and bite our nails and wonder if we will still be waiting long after everyone is done.
I just heard from Western Carolina. My first BFA acceptance! Finally!
We’re right there with you @missnypizza. So sad:(
Can you tell me if Montclair is more of a commuter or suitcase school? Or anything other information about it?
@sopranomtmom @bisouu @milmom2 Thank you all for the positive thoughts. No WLs at this time. She will probably opt for a gap year which breaks my heart because she wants to go to college so bad. And she’s smart. But she wants a BFA.
@singoutlouise wow that is extremely impressive! And I definitely feel your pain my daughter is on three wait lists as well but we have to move forward as if they weren’t there hanging over our heads and if she happens to come off of one we will deal with that when the time comes
@momadrama Thanks! I know there are many suffering like my D. It’s heartbreaking.
@collegeyayyyyyy Congratulations! Good for you!
@ginja17 yes Montclair has traditionally been a suitcase school. Since they built those beautiful new dorms in 2011 I’m sure there are more kids hanging around on the weekends but it definitely could be an issue.
@ginja17 Montclair is a commuter school. They only accept 20-22 students at leas tin musical theatre. They pride themselves on helping you become a “triple threat artist”.
My D has an audition this weekend - I am wondering if we even go to it. She has been accepted to Hartt, Rider, and. Emerson WL.
Thoughts??
